House GOP launches shutdown battle by voting to defund Obamacare

Washington (CNN) – With one vote on Friday, the Republican-led House launched the latest spending battle in Congress - one that could bring a government shutdown in less than two weeks.

By a 230-189 vote almost strictly on party lines, the House passed a short-term government spending plan that would eliminate all funding for Obamacare.

So if this week has taught us anything, its that Republicans:

1.Want to starve those in need by killing welfare.
2.Dont want people to have affordable health insurance.
3.Want way more guns out in the world to "protect" us.

They live in a scary scary world.

"Yeah, more guns and less gun regulations will save us all, but health care for everyone is a death sentence for everyone!!!!!"

But everyone already has HEALTH CARE now. You must be talking about HEALTH INSURANCE. Oh, and not everyone will be covered through the ACA. You do know that, right? It's estimated that 26 million will still not have insurance....

  4. GOP = Greed Over People

There is something unseemly about the House GOP holding a cheer leading session over their action to shut down the government at the expense of million American citizens.

    We, are NOT amused.

Perhaps we will have a giggle at the the GOP's expense, in 2014!

" Robespierre speaks again. Say "Hi" to Richileu and the boys for me."

Huh? Richileu died like 150 years or so prior to the French Revolution. How wonderfully irrelevant of you. The moral and intellectual bankrupting of a nation resulting in the unfettered rise of plutocracy eventually ends in only one way if allowed to reach critical mass. Me observing that fact, borne out countless times throughout history, is not a threat, but a warning.

"Even the unions are screaming to get rid of this disaster. Why won't you lefties address THAT fact?"

I did address that, and I explained very clearly in a prior post yesterday or the day before exactly why SOME unions were upset, what they had been asking for, why what they were asking for was in fact a double-dip and special treatment for their members, and why it was justifiably denied by Obama's administration because it would not have been fair to everyone else. If you weren't so blinded by mindless rage and hate and spent more time actually informing yourself about what is actually going on, instead of just relying on superficial partisan nutjobbery and misrepresentations, you'd actually be quite please with Obama having told those particular unions that they couldn't have the special treatment they were demanding.

Donna cite exactly where the unions said they didn't want this, crickets honey, they simply asked for a single payer system, but your gop blocked it because the insurance corps told them too. You continue to cherry pick, but the whole truth seems to evade you as usual

    Friends,

Can the first country in the world fail its citizen on health?
Defund it to humiliate Obama because he is a black
Create chaos to show to the world the black President is not able

What kind of a spirit is that? Founding fathers are sad in the grave?

    Thanks

President Kennedy said, THINK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY. The only thing he for got to add was, SEND MONEY. Hey Folks, you forgot to send the money! Now the country is broke! You want service served up on a Silver Platter? You better start looking for a Silver Platter if you want service.

Huh? Or are you parroting Mitt- that "people can always go to the ER"-ignoring that doing so may bankrupt them, or if they don't pay medical costs go up for us all? Yes, millions will still not have coverage, but ending the ACA throws an additional 35 million Americans into the uninsured category. Think-man-think!

Nahp. That's a historical re-write. The ACA was passed with 60 votes in the Senate. Remember all of that hullabaloo about buying the vote of certain Senator from the state of Nebraska? You're either lying or misinformed.

    "Nice try, but we gotcha."

Donna, Republicans have held more than 40 votes to repeal or defund Obamacare. Guess what? Obamacare is still here. Republicans have been a complete failure when it comes to repealing or defunding Obamacare. If failure is good enough for Republican voters, they can continue to vote for failure. The rest of us will continue to vote against Republicans.

Republicans are outnumbered. They did not even get the majority of the votes cast in the 2012 House election. In a few years, you can kiss the conservative majority on the Supreme Court goodbye.

I'd like to see Harry Reid propose legislation that automatically raises taxes on the wealthy by 10% every time the House holds a meaningless vote to repeal Obamacare. The deficit would be gone in six months.

If the tea party was a real party they would have the guts to form their own party, but they decided to infect the Republican party instead. Moderate Republicans need to take back their party. Sen. King(R) today called Cruz a FRAUD. Where are the other moderate Republicans ?

If I was president Obama, I would do some type of trade with Boehner. I would tell Boehner that we would need to get rid of the NRA and Stricter and Stronger Background checks should be in place, and the Debt ceiling should be Raised, in exchange for de-funding the ACA (Obama care)

I believe in making trade deals.
