10 ways a government shutdown would affect your daily life

(CNN) - Ticktock. Ticktock.

Just over a week remains. If the Democrats and Republicans don't stop bickering and agree to how the U.S. should pay its bills, the federal government will shut down, come October 1.

And at a time when the economy's finally showing signs of life, that could be troubling.

We don't need to know how it will affect our daily lives. We already know! We've seen this movie before and the culprit once again is the republican party. They did it back in Newt's day, they did it temporarily in 2011 and now they've come to do it again. Soon to be followed by a default on our debt. These people are economic terrorists. Can we get some mature adults in Congress please!

One positive change- The Republicans shut down the federal government in another anti-American, anti-government hissy- they're through. It almost might be worth it.

congressional research service says- the last two shutdowns cost 1.4 billion. the same amount obama spent on his "vacations" thats cheap at twice the price.

All I see in this list is ways that the government has intruded on our lives. None of this is a necessity, it's only related to laws passed by the same government. It's not about personal interaction, it's about our responsibility (tongue in cheek) to the almighty leaders of this country.

1.5-2.0% growth after 5 years of every gimmick in the book is "signs of life"???? Let's not set that bar too high right CNN!!! If there was a Republican in the WHite House these dismal economic numbers would be front page every day with relentless hammering and criticism. Bu tsince Obama is your hand picked president, he gets a complete and total pass even after 5 years of failure.

The most important thing to know is this: a government shutdown will not really affect Obamacare. Most of the spending in Obamacare is mandatory, so Obamacare will continue even when there is a government shutdown. Just think, Republicans are putting the nation through this for nothing.

Remind me again, Donna: just what has the GOP done to clean up their colossal mess of 2008? They ran on "jobs, jobs, jobs" in 2010. They wound up trying legislate women's reproductive rights instead. The GOP proves daily that they've got nothin'.

  9. just saying

a government shutdown does not affect me one iota. i'm just a poor working slob that pays massive taxes to support the tens of millions sucking on the government teet, aka my paycheck.

but of course, the republicans have already funded the federal governmnet, just not obamacare, which most amercians do not want and did not ask for. if the government shut down, it is because the democrats are once again trying to jam obamacare down our throats by terrorizing the nation with the threat of shutting it down.

how many times are the democrats going to stick it to the american people?! democrats gotta go come 2014 and 2016, pure and simple. they are holding this nation hostage in order to jam their far left agenda down our throats.

Ticktock, ticktock is right. By a margin of almost 2 to 1, Americans will blame the GOP for a shutdown.

    Ticktock, ticktock.

Actually they ran on stop the Obama leftist nightmare after the failed stimulus package and Obamacare foasco.

As for jobs bills, you can look over in the Democrat controlled Senate where the Do-Nothing-Democrat Harry Reid has refused to even allow votes on the bills.

  12. the hippies were right

Also, can you tell me how 2 wars ending, no wars started, evil doers killed, all economy numbers only improving is considered failure, yet in 8 years two wars were started , thousands of Americans were killed by terrorists, a deficit of 0 was destroyed, everyone's stocks almost vanished is NOT considered a total failure of epic proportions? Please explain, I can't wait to hear your response. Or are you just a hypocrite? Liberals prepare for the crickets!
