Bill Clinton: Chelsea would be a better president 'over the long run'

(CNN) – Former President Bill Clinton thinks his wife would be a better president right now but in the long term, it's all about his daughter Chelsea.

Clinton was responding to a question from CNN's Piers Morgan about who would be the better President, Hillary or Chelsea.

"Day after tomorrow, my wife because she's had more experience. Over the long run, Chelsea. She knows more than we do about everything," Clinton said.

"I feel like I'm going to school every day when we have conversations."

The full interview will air tonight at 9 p.m. ET on CNN's "Piers Morgan Live."

Chelsea Clinton has taken up a place at the heart of her family's foundation and not unlike her mother's playbook, has declined to give a definitive answer about any future political aspirations while still feeding into continuing media speculation.

Chelsea Clinton still open to running for office

As for the elder Clintons, President Barack Obama's informal "secretary of explaining stuff" once again deflected on another White House run by Hillary Clinton, who has nevertheless taken significant steps towards a 2016 run.

When asked about Hillary Clinton's seeming abundance of energy and political ideas after stepping down as Secretary of State and if he could put America out of its misery waiting for an announcement, Clinton said: "No. But, it should scream to you something else: real life is a healthier existence than politics."

This is not a monarchy, Billie Boy. You cannot anoint your average, inexperienced daughter as the next leader of the free world. God forbid we have to live through another Clinton.

I tend to agree with you Bee, however considering Michelle's experience with the public, I believe once the President's term ends she may never want to even visit DC. Michelle is strong, smart and capable but no other First Family has EVER endured what they have. The complete and utter disrespect by many including the MSM. The things said about her would have never been said about either of the other First Ladies.

Has this Chelsea person done anything other than profit from the advantages of her family?

Wikipedia doesn't seem to have much on her

Just what we need. Another uber-partisan family dynasty to offset the Bushes in an equally horrific manner.

Wake up, America. The founders saw this coming centuries ago, and did everything in their power to avert the modern day monstrosity of career politicians. And what do we do? We break into evenly matched teams and support competing families of monarchs, pitting us against each other.

Chelsa is about as qualified as sarah palin. That is to say not qualified at all.

No thanks to another clinton. We don't need another clinton, we don't need another bush, we don't need any legacy presidents. This country is not suppose to be a blood lined monarchy.

How can anyone say with a straight face that someones daughter who has accomplished pretty much nothing, deserves to be president. There has to be someone more qualified out of the other about 200,000,000 adults that are eligible in this country. I'm sure there are at least hundreds of thousands that are more qualified, if not millions.

Too bad we don't elect presidents based on intelligence and qualifications. Instead its all a big popularity contest. Its a world where the only things that matter are your last name, your wealth(or wealthy friends), or the color of your skin. Without one of those going for you, you pretty much have no hope of getting elected, regardless of how qualified you are.

Chelsea would make a finer President than most. The fact that she IS a Clinton makes her a more qualifiable candidate than most of the Republicans that think they have a chance. But, in reality, she has yet to express any formal desire to run for any political office. My heart wants her to be President someday, but my mind tells me she is better suited, morally and ethically, to inherit a greater role in the CGI. She just has that spirit that you want to remain good and doing good things. Politics is a dirty game to play. I don't imagine Chelsea wanting to take on a role completely opposite in character the role she was practically conditioned to take on. Her parents were always in the political scene. She - not so much. She's more of an activist - and a great one at that. We'll see.
