Defiant House delays Obamacare; government shutdown looms

Washington (CNN) – Less than 48 hours before a shutdown of the federal government would begin, House Republican leaders remained defiant in their effort to chip away at Obamacare - with one member of the House GOP leadership insisting the House will continue its effort to undermine the health care law and another faulting the Democratically controlled Senate for not working on Sunday.

In a move that makes a shutdown appear very likely, House Republicans approved a spending plan early Sunday morning that would delay Obamacare for a year and repeal its tax on medical devices.

I'd just like to point out that the people telling you the ACA is going to be horrible are the same people who told you Mitt Romney was going to win in a landside. Unskewed polls anyone?

Delay? Delay why? Its been the law for three years, we all knew this was coming. Its time to let the ACA sink or swim. If it sinks, the repubs have nothing to worry about next year so why are we shutting down the government?

  3. Jeff Frank (R-Ohio) "Right Wing Insanity"

Of the last 17 government shutdowns, on average, lasted no more than 6-1/2 days. And just so some that think this is a complete closure of government, it isn't. Basic emergency services like police, fire, NWS, and the USPS, would all would still be active.

This is minority rule, a practice the world witnessed last under Apartheid South Africa. The difference is that the world should potentially geared to another round of economic upheaval. Its simply a reminder of how precarious the world depends on the negations of small-minded overzealous mad men.

Republicans are so willingly to shut down the government and cause everyone to suffer in some way, rather than allow their fellow Americans to have access to the same affordable health insurance that they have which is funded by tax payers' money. The GOP gives a new meaning to the word hypocrisy.

    ___________
It is juvenile to try to blame this insanity on the President any more than the Sequester- written by the GOP, and about which Boehner said he got 98% of what he wanted.

Just because it happens and the President (smartly I think) tells the GOP to take a hike- it's the Right that has worked time and again to hurt America. You guys own this one!

No that it is clear that the GOP has no concern about the debt or deficit (both of which will go UP if the ACA is rescinded), and the GOP tries to say this is about the debt ceiling (which won't change the ACA one bit, nor will it change what the government owns), will some one please explain what the GOP's problem is, because right now they look like garden variety hostage takers here.

watching crossfire tonight ralph nader talking accurately about our health care system. its not perfect but nothing is .what are you guys so afraid of . everybody gets health care here . and we spend half as much per person .looks from the outside like the big health care companies and insurance providers have a lot to lose . open your minds look at how other countries do this take it and make it better.its ok to take profit out of health care . don't let your parents lose there life savings because they get sick.yes we pay more for smokes booze and gas but we don't pay 500 dollars per month in insurance to get 300 back.OUR COUNTRY LOOKS AFTER ITS YOUNG ITS OLD AND ITS POOR , AND YOU KNOW ITS NOT SO BAD ! being a giving and sharing bunch has its rewards too.a Canadian who has had lots of experience with our health care system
