If I needlessly cost my employer over a billion dollars, i would not have a job. Why are they still in office today? Can we walk them out of the building at noon.

Anyone remember the obscure movie "Brewsters Millions"? Perhaps for the next election the American people should adopt the mantra "BOOT THE BUMS – NONE OF THE ABOVE".

The majority of the DoD personnel at the military installation where I work are furloughed. I hear the same from friends at other installations. Still have to show up this morning to be told to go home. Won't get paid for it, of course. We show up and don't get paid. Congress doesn't show yo and gets paid. That's equitable, right?

I have not gone outside since the sequester thing as I am afraid that airplanes would fall from the sky. Now the government is shutting down I will have to get an anti satellite tin foil hat on ebay. Just hope the free shipping dude survives. Oh the humanity.

I agree that cutting house and senate pay would certainly bring a quick resolution to the shutdown. I am incredibly disappointed with all these people making decisions for our country as well as for my family. We are strugglung to get out of debt, we have zero savings, and to top it off in a few hours no more income.. What a difference a day makes. I am afraid this will make our struggle yesterday look like a walk in the park. Oh boy are we screwd !!!!

The American people are responsible for the government shut down, you elected these people to both theSenate, Congress. If you do not like their actions vote them out of office now don't wait for an election.

WE hired YOU to do a job. Apparently you can't. You should be fired. Thats what happens when a factory worker doesn't make a deadline. You have a job to do. Do it and stop dragging your feet.

  16. Discussed American

Discussed that our govt can't work together and have to fight like babies. Who suffers 800,000 federal workers that will be furloughed. We can lose our credit and/or houses for not being able to pay our bills. WHAT is congress thinking?? Cut the fat from their pay checks not mine – I have a family, mortgage and bills just like everyone else – but without a paycheck Congress is screwing us – again!! Time the american people took control over our govt – enough is enough!!

    2 big questions:
    1. Why is Congress and the President still getting paid during the shutdown?
    2. Why does Congress not play under the same rules as the rest of us and get a subsidy?

    @ usual suspects
Your post, lengthy as it was, was worth reading every word! One of the best posts on Obamacare that I have read. Indeed, articles on Obamacare have not been as clear and as entertaining as your post.
I don't know who you are, I don't care what Party you belong to. You've shown humanity, humor, and common sense and that makes you ACES in my book.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post.

  20. Layed of Goverment Worker

So I am one of hundreds of thousands of loyal Federal workers that are basically without a job right now. I have a family to support and everyday that we are out of work that is one more step of not being able to pay my mortgage or my lights. This isn't going to hurt just those that are furloughed but it trickles down to the communities. I have enough savings to last a couple of weeks after that I do not know what we are going to do. How is it fair the ones that put us in the situation are still getting paid during a shutdown. I know the next election who I will not be voting for. We need individuals that will do there job and not act like 5 year old children.

Congressmen and Senators need term limits of 8 years. Then maybe they will not be so entrenched with special insterest groups and actually pass legislation that does not put so many people out of work. I really agree with Mark.
The Republican Party can't get their way and they are ignroing the political process.

It is with great disappointment that our leaders in Washington have chosen to continue his unnecessary bickering and squabbling to the point of shutting down the government. Well, those of you who have always wanted a smaller government now have no government at all. If you need government services.....tough, too bad, deal with it!

Not only does this affect the millions who depend on the governments services and assistance, some who are the most needy. It also affects more than 800,000 federal workers who despite a majority of Americans not recognizing that they choose to serve their country with pride they are now without the pay they rely on to support their families.

What is wrong with our leaders? They act like children. They don't get their way they continually

    -just saying

    The Real Tom Paine
At least the Obama supporters work.

yeah, we see them all 'working' at the occupy wall street camps.

Besides, the faster the GOP dies off, the better. Keep shoveling those fries!

so much for the compassionate left... news flash: leftists die too. and they eat fries too. and do more sitting on the couch waiting for their government checks

So much for the Christian compassion of the Right: all the hate-filled garbage spewing forth from your orifice on a daily basis is proof that that conservatism has never been about the community or the nation, its about the individual screwing over everyone else. All of your arguments boil down to your mistaken belief that you, and you alone, support a vast legion of ingrates intent on picking your pocket, yet you do nothing to change that. Complaining, whining and playing the victim are the only cards the Right has left, a fact you make very obvious with your juvenile, egocentric posts. Another classic example of Conservative Bipolar Oppositional Defiance Disorder ( CBODD).

The Tea Party Republicans' bills have been willfully demeaning and insulting. The bill shouted out, "Take it or leave it." There was no possible way the Senate Democrats could pass any bill that offered a few weeks of continued funding while it dismantled the ACA. If the Tea Party seriously thought that Senate Democrats would pass a bill like that, then they're crazier than we all thought.
