1). 42 million Americans will receive insurance that they could not afford before ACA.
2). Those making over $250k will see tax rates increase by less than 3%. They have had the lowest tax rates in history for over 16 years. The 1% have increased their wealth by 600% in that period. The 99% have suffered a recession and income losses while the top 1% have increased wealth.
3). Tacking on the defeat of the ACA to a CR is just bad politics. GOP will pay at the polls.

Same debate a few years ago when Republicans wanted to defund all Public Education in America. Privatize everything.

Wouldn't America be a better nation if the rich Big Insurance and Big Universities all charged for all services?

No more Public Schools. Private schools only. Preferably all Catholic schools also.

traffic on the obamacare web site??? of course, free government healthcare for anybody, illegal aliens, anybody. no income verification, free government money. heck let's all sign up and claim we have no income so uncle sam can give us all free healthcare. after all that is what the democrats are hoping for. only problem is where do we send the trillions of dollars in bills? who we gonna steal all that money from? oh yeah, future generations. democrats don't care. they just want to take, take, take.

Riiiiiiiiigggghhhhhhttttttt.... well, like someone else said, "it must be RWNJ's clogging the system to deliberately bring it down". Occam's Razor indeed."

Don't attribute silly things other people said to me as if I said them. I never said that. People are flocking to the websites because they want insurance. Period. That's the simplest, clearest, most objective explanation for the servers being overwhelmed and it requires no fabrication, assumptions, presumptions or bias (one way or the other) to arrive at that conclusion.

I would like to comment Ashleigh on her interview a few minutes ago with both parties. Keep up the good work and hold both parties responsible. Our elected officials do not have the American people interest at heart.

It is time for a third party that knows how to consider the will of the people. I would suggest there are members in both parties that could move to and start a new third party.

    Keep up the good work.

I truly believe if our so called Government wouldnt give all our money to all these other countries ,and we never get paid back that we would have plenty of money. The other countries just say im sorry but dont send us money for help. Also the congress make so much money why cant they get paid regular pay days like real workers. Then they have war blow the towns up then pay to rebuild them. The one thing that makes me madder than this stuff is our people are begging us to send $20.00 a month for our wounded soldiers and Mrs. Clinton heads across the world with billions for their wounded soldiers. They need to learn to keep the money here and take care of our own people, and stupid things like this wouldn't happen! Our money should stay here for the americans and let the other fend for themselves. Truly Disappointed, Rene Henry Gadsden Alabama,35903

Chris- The Republican knows that they need the bill to repeal or delayed(its been delayed what 5 yrs now) enough let it happen fix what you do not like about it but to start from scratch (which the Republicans wont) cost to much. When W was in why did they not implement one of their own? Cause the insurance company told them not to.. Who are they working for you Americans or corporate america? Corporate look at the food stamp program 195 billion from that program and going where? Corporate America to help them out.. How many times do they need bailing and for what to do with the money have a party like AIG or buy a new plane like other companies did that.. If they want the USA help they go in look at the books sell some of there stuff to pay there bills file ch 11 give a person a fish he will eat for a day teach him to fish he will eat for life..These Republicans need to go we need peace of mind not this stuff there dishing

It did make perfect sense. It illustrated just how little sense the comparison of the employer mandate and the individual mandate truly is. There is no argument whatsoever for "treating them the same." Now, go drink your beef cider and let the adults talk.

Not one incumbent will get my vote in the upcoming elections. They have all proven they do no deserve to be there as our representatives or senators. They are suppose to negotiate the differences and compromise to pass legislation to govern our country. Time for a constitutional amendment to elect a national Congress and allow recalls based on a simple majority. The new congressional boundaries have created this mess and those need to go. Too much regionalism and not enough nationalism.

I feel like the house is treating the federal employees like hostages in a terrorist fashion, "Do this, or else!"

This is not cool. To purposefully deny pay to people who need it to live on because you don't like something is ludicrous. Obamacare was passed, it was vetted through the Supreme Court, it was used as part of Obama's re-election message, and he still got elected. If people didn't want it, why did the re-elect him?

We need another party to emerge with common sense approach and action to the needs of the americans outside of the corporate welfare and special interest groups. So much for draining the swamp Nancy Pelosi as you put it all politicians do is steal and lie continuously wake up American stand up demand the removal of the terrorists in the white house!

Saying that they are not comparable doesn't make it so. There are reasons for the delay for the corporations, just as there are reasons for the public. Different reasons, but not so incredible as you want people to believe. Obama has already changed numerous provisions of the law, without going through the proper channels. I think the ACA can live with a little give for the American people. The question is, why dont you?

Not really interested. Barack Obama is the President. That alone appears to be a good enough reason for some in government to declare that they couldn't wait to shut this mother down back in 2010.
Not that these facts would matter to you but this is a completely different set of circumstances economically speaking from the Clinto shutdown.
Back then the economy was healthy enough to withstand such a blow.
This time it could be a death blow for all our so-called "for the people, by the people" elected government officials in the House care.
So to summarize: not interested in what Clinton would do.
I am perfectly satisfied with the fact that THIS President is holding firm against terrorists...from within and outside our borders.

    Steve
I'm an independent who last voted for a Republican when Barry Goldwater ran. Barry Goldwater would not have a chance in the GOP today. The GOP is far right today and out of touch with the dwindling middle. GOP cannot get votes to over turn and will pull any kind of legislative maneuver to shut down the government. I do think independents will go to the left in 2014 and 2016 if the Tea Party continues to push the GOP right. The deficit in 16 days may be the last straw for the right. If they shut down the government in deficit negotiations then we will know their intention is just to "shut down the government". They don't want to govern.

    Gleena,
Let me state this again. Democrats gave in to the GOP budget bill. They reduced their proposals and cut back to the GOP levels of funding. If the CR were allowed to go forward "clean" then it would pass and this ridiculous attack on an "existing law" would be in the past. This is not about Dems. It is about Tea Party running Boehner and the GOP.

The media stories refer to the republican extremists and their effort to undermine ACA when quite simply the truth is this:

Tea Party folks are insisting that congress, the pres and all the other "elites" abide by the same laws that they are attempting to pass. No waivers. If one goes, we all go. This is the one provision that the democratic senate is refusing to accept.

I don't identify with a political party, but in all honesty I have to agree with the so called "extremists". I believe those who need care should be able to get it, but if finger pointing is needed, it should pointed at the senate for refusing to live by the laws they create.

it is a burning shame that because a group of politcians didnt get their way in the election that they want to sabotage the economy and Presidnt Obama's agenda, while in the process potentially hurting millons of people. They have so much animosity and hatred against this President, I believe that they are so intent on punishing Americans for electing him twice, and for passing a landmark heath care bill that will last for generations. The GOP is willing to throw the economy into chaos just out of spite. Shameful!
