This may be a good opportunity to buy stocks or mutual funds. I'll wait a few days until ALL the damage is done. Then, it's time to buy!!

The House has voted on it and passed it. It is now the Senate's turn. If the Senate dems refuse to allow even a vote on a the clean funding bill, then the shutdown is on them.

Kindergarten rules. The Radical Republicans in the House opened the discussion of the Debt Ceiling with shutdown. That was their goal, that will be the result. Face it, the Republicans are such a mess, there is no one for Democrats to "negotiate" with- even if negotiating with hostage takers made any sense.

Who cares? He will just slander the GOP. Of course his and the Democrats in the Senate's unwillingness to negotiate had nothing to do with this situation. And the far left media will completely back him up.

    Government rolls out shutdown plans
America is a wealthy country. The News said they have 442 billionaires in America, 68 including 2 women in New York.
They should be ashamed of themselves to tell the World they have to shut down the Government and hurt the whole
Country, because of One man, as it only shows they ALL lack Wisdom to have their bank-books full and declaring POVERTY.

The truth is, the ultra-conservative closet racists opposing Obama and his policies blindly, and finding every opportunity to fight him tooth and nail, even at the risk of bringing the entire world economy to its knees are nothing less than fascist power hungry middle aged men and women that hate a black man telling them what to do, especially one that is making them pay more money for anything, including health care. We are to politically correct to call these “House Republicans” what they are, bigots and hateful sad human-beings that have not right to play with our economy in this fashion. I agree with them on one point, Obama needs to grow a spine. He needs to take the power back from the terrorists and start printing 1 Trillion dollar coins to pay the treasury and be done with these circus monkeys. Enough is enough, when will the rest of this country wake up and take our government back? NOW PLEASE…..TAKE THE POWER BACK NOW MR PRESIDENT.

"To be fair, the initial version was very moderate and it was Reagan's Tax Reform Act in 1986 that massively expanded it, which is probably what Rudy was thinking of...and is certainly why the EIC is frequently attributed to the GOP and Reagan."
    -----–
Nah... he (rightfully) sees the EIC as another form of welfare and was desperately trying to tie it somehow to the GOP. He specifically cited Gingrich... which he equates to "welfare to work". Epic fail on his part again.

Please stop worrying. Both sides will agree to something last minute. After all, if it shuts down, they do not get paid.

If the Senate dems refuse to allow even a vote on a the clean funding bill,
    -------------------------------------------------
The House is NOT putting forward a "clean funding bill".
That's the whole problem tom l.
They are attaching crap to it. Primarily crap to delay or outright defund Obamacare.
Neither you nor your little cohorts Donna the Ditz, just sprayin, etc combined are any kind of a match for Snifit.
What is it with you guys here on this thread and in government being gluttons for punishment?

You ever notice how nothing is ever Democrats fault? You'll deal all day with Iran but not with Republicans. What a messed up sense of priorities. And they're all about the children...except when it comes time to actually providing them a future. America is turning into a mini Chicago....or maybe even a Detroit.

Sad thing, nobody at my level even cares. I'm a small time private business person and frankly, I don't hardly care either. Repub way, Dem way–just doesn't make any difference to me.

It's like some far off, distant thing that only affects other people.

Clearly you couldn't tell that I was trying to make a joke for all of you liberals on the left who can't see straight. I know the rules. I just find it ironic that the House has passed a bill that won't even be allowed to be voted on by the Senate yet all of you on the left think your side is acting rationally. You have said you won't negotiate. You have made that perfectly clear.
Admittedly, it was impossible to read the whole bill because of the timing and how quickly it was voted on. Now we are seeing that there are glaring glitches and pressing pause would be the adult thing to do. But you are so concerned about this being Obama's most important legislative achievement (as stated by Krugman this weekend) that it must go through. It's sad when the only real reason you're for this is due to a legacy, and nothing else.

What do you expect to hear from the President at 4:45...? I don't expect him to be anywhere close to on time at 4:45...this is the most embarrassing POTUS of my lifetime (surpassing J. Carter by a long stretch)

HEY! Let me clue all you government workers into a little secret... you are all OVERHEAD. You are paid for by the US taxpayers. You are paid with money taken from others at gun point. SOME perform useful services. However MANY do not. There must be a limit put on the size of the federal government. It cannot continue to endlessly grow and consume our pay checks with higher and new taxes every year. Our families need to live and survive too you know.

An outrageously arrogant guy who has ZERO business experience is telling everyone that this horrible healthcare program is the best since sliced bread. Mr. Obama and Mr. Read and all of you Liberal bandwageners who are supporting this communist endeavor; If this is such a great Idea, how come the White House, including the President and Moochella, staff, Senate, and Congress are exempt?????????????????

The Republican's are holding the economy hostage. They caused this recession, now they are working to make it worse. They can't figure out how to blame the Democrats or Obama so they just make stuff up.
