Wild car chase ends with suspect shot to death near U.S. Capitol

,

Washington (CNN) - She had a 1-year-old child inside and apparently was unarmed.

Instead, the motorist's black Infiniti, according to authorities, itself became a weapon Thursday afternoon, first striking a security barrier and U.S. Secret Service officer near the White House before hurtling down some of the capital's most famous streets, police cruisers in pursuit.

Dramatic video taken minutes later near the U.S. Capitol showed the vehicle backing into a police vehicle before the chase resumed. Gunshots rang through the traffic circle. The motorist was shot by police just a few blocks away.

    BoThome,

What hardships would those be? All the Federal employees I know just got their paychecks on Monday. They won't get another for two weeks anyway. You're acting like they're having money taken from them on a daily basis. What crazy job do you have where you get daily paychecks? By the time this ends, all the Federal employees will get retroactively paid so this ends up just being a free, paid vacation for them all.

If you're talking about the people on vacation or sick, then ask the Senate to approve the no-strings-attached bills to reopen the National Parks, NIH, etc.

Some disgruntled federal worker is fed up. I work for the government, I'm "essential" so I still have to come to work. There are some crazy people that work here. Most are Vets that suffer from PTSD and other mental illnesses. I'm not surprised that this is happening. And wouldn't be surprised if it happened again.

When Obama makes statements like it's his way or no way, what do you expect? There's no place for arrogance - start talking and iron out the issues. There are no dictators in the USA!

If you mess with 800,000+ peoples jobs, you really think there is going to be no retaliation (assuming this is associated with the govt shutdown of course). Heads role when I see $10 missing from my bank account...pshhhh....if this was an act of retaliation/rebellion, I cannot sit here and say I blame the shooter.

Hey ailuropod, I had to look up annunciator and an escape hood. An annunciator is, "a signaling apparatus, generally used in conjunction with a buzzer, that displays a visual indication when energized by electric current." Hope this helps! Glad I wasn't the only person who didn't know what it was.
