Wild car chase ends with suspect shot to death near U.S. Capitol

,

Washington (CNN) - She had a 1-year-old child inside and apparently was unarmed.

Instead, the motorist's black Infiniti, according to authorities, itself became a weapon Thursday afternoon, first striking a security barrier and U.S. Secret Service officer near the White House before hurtling down some of the capital's most famous streets, police cruisers in pursuit.

Dramatic video taken minutes later near the U.S. Capitol showed the vehicle backing into a police vehicle before the chase resumed. Gunshots rang through the traffic circle. The motorist was shot by police just a few blocks away.

We need a great leader, like George Washington or Abe Lincoln to save our political system. America has forgotten who America is and has become a People's Republic of America. Guns aren't the problem, health care isn't the problem, its the people who are the problem...

Three days ago they caused nearly a million government employees to go unpaid – all over a childish game of political chicken – and someone showed up where they work with a gun?

    Gee, what a surprise.

I know this is terrible, but I gotta admit when I saw this news story, the first thought that popped into mind was, "Well if someone got hit, I hope it was a congressman."

"Down to the Aids"? What the heck does that mean, lextacy03? Actually, we get a chance at a fresh start every two years. It's called voting. And like it or not, the Democratic and Republican parties are the only real choices. Any other party always gets only a tiny fraction of the overall vote. Suck it up, choose one or the other (the lesser of two evils, if you see it that way in a given year), and then VOTE. I myself, along with my husband, son, and the vast majority of my other family members and friends, are proud Democrats. We never miss an election, local or national. That's part of being a responsible member of a democratic society. We can only hope that a great many of the right-wingers, especially the Tea Party loons, will be voted out in 2014 and 2016. – L.D.

Car chase that ended with shots fired between officers and the suspect, after the suspect in question tried to ram a security barrier on Penn. Av. No wackjob, just a normal crime day in DC.

Well, darn...why couldn't the shooter have gotten a lucky shot off at the house speaker, who seems to be holding up any chance of letting anything come to the floor for a vote?

I am not surprised, you mess with peoples lives they turn violent instantly. I hope this does not escalate but unless the government starts doing write by the people they are sworn to serve incidents like these will become dramatically more frequent. :\

Government shutdown. Just the words invite civil unrest. Proof positive here?
It's time for a political clean slate-just not sure a violent revolution is the way to go about it-but maybe this person thinks it is? Either way, good job Washington! Way to look after the nation's best interest.

There was a car chase that happened to stop in front of Capital hill, and the driver got out and started shooting at police. It wasn't anything due to the government shut down.

Good job congress, you've got the crazies coming out on day 3. How many days will it take for the reasonable people to turn into angry mobs? Mark Meadows and the other 79 tea party wackos who started this terrorist threat to America didn't consider the negative consequences, now did they? Terror begets terror folks.
