Wild car chase ends with suspect shot to death near U.S. Capitol

,

Washington (CNN) - She had a 1-year-old child inside and apparently was unarmed.

Instead, the motorist's black Infiniti, according to authorities, itself became a weapon Thursday afternoon, first striking a security barrier and U.S. Secret Service officer near the White House before hurtling down some of the capital's most famous streets, police cruisers in pursuit.

Dramatic video taken minutes later near the U.S. Capitol showed the vehicle backing into a police vehicle before the chase resumed. Gunshots rang through the traffic circle. The motorist was shot by police just a few blocks away.

Police are not obligated to defend the citizen in any way: Warren vs District of Columbia, Castle Rock vs Gonzales...most of us people have no special security or protection. Perhaps if more people were armed, we'd be less concerned about when liberals get crazy and stupid and go on a car rampage or shoot cops, like the one that shot Gabby Giffords.

Jamboli- What makes you think our incompetent government can keep us safe after they ban weapons? They can't do anything right. PLUS last time I checked meth is illegal and that doesn't seem to be stopping any of the criminals on it. AND OOOOH YEAH, were you aware of all the Mexican drug cartels? You think we can keep them from shipping guns over the border? ANYONE that thinks banning guns in this country is the answer needs to GTFO. The right to bare arms WILL NOT BE INFRINGED. DEAL WITH IT.

The problem with gun control is that it doesn't usually stop anything.

Another month, another shooter. Why do these insane people feel the need to murder innocent people? What does that accomplish? What does that get them? I just don't understand. People, please, please, stop and think before going on some crazed rampage. It solves nothing. It gets you nowhere good. All it does is bring the entire world's hatred down upon you. Who wants that?

JohnnyB – the OEC is the Office of Emergency Communications and the USCP is the United States Capitol Police. It realy would be nice if the initial names were explained in reports.

Stop Obama! Stop spying/surveillance. Stop government meddling in America's healthcare; defund Obamacare. Stop illegal immigration/immigration reform (that's coming next). Stop fighting wars for Israel. Stop the kill lists.

Aren't guns illegal in DC? Can we please remind everyone that they are not permitted. We also need to remind Chicago that they are not allowed as well. It seems a few people forgot.
