Wild car chase ends with suspect shot to death near U.S. Capitol

,

Washington (CNN) - She had a 1-year-old child inside and apparently was unarmed.

Instead, the motorist's black Infiniti, according to authorities, itself became a weapon Thursday afternoon, first striking a security barrier and U.S. Secret Service officer near the White House before hurtling down some of the capital's most famous streets, police cruisers in pursuit.

Dramatic video taken minutes later near the U.S. Capitol showed the vehicle backing into a police vehicle before the chase resumed. Gunshots rang through the traffic circle. The motorist was shot by police just a few blocks away.

Somehow the ticker across the top of the screen advertising the return of the show "Crossfire" seems wildly inappropriate. Prayers for those affected....

Probably an overzealous NPS ranger. I'm surprised they haven't gone Tiananmen Square on those courageous WWII vets yet!

Funny how recess is what kids get to play...These clowns have been playing for most of their lives...they don't need an excuse.

Hopefully no one is seriously hurt. To be honest, I'm surprised that something like this hasn't happened sooner. How much pressure can people put up with from do nothing GOP politicians who work to make life even more unbearable for hard working people?

Here we go again. The way our goverment is handling things are driving people crazy. It doesn't matter which party or laws you support. We need to stand together as Americans and take back our country.

Why do we persist in saying "active shooter"? If one is shooting, that implies you're actively doing something. A guy just carrying a gun is not shooting, therefore he can't be an "inactive shooter" can he? Really!! Just say SHOOTER!!

And we are surprised about this? The Republican lead House is failing the American people, and they have pulled 700,000+ people from their jobs. In my mind, the Republican lead House are internal terrorists destroying the U.S. government.

Guess that guarantees yet another day before we get the Government up and running again.

I'm not surprised someone who was affected by this shutdown would snap and do something like this (assuming it's related to the shutdown and the hardships many Americans are going through right now).

Hopefully no one was killed, and all parties come together tomorrow and pass a "no-strings" bill to get the Government back up and running so they can quickly tackle the fast approaching debt ceiling limit (without the same "hostage" BS of bringing the ACA into talks about funding the Government).
