Wild car chase ends with suspect shot to death near U.S. Capitol

,

Washington (CNN) - She had a 1-year-old child inside and apparently was unarmed.

Instead, the motorist's black Infiniti, according to authorities, itself became a weapon Thursday afternoon, first striking a security barrier and U.S. Secret Service officer near the White House before hurtling down some of the capital's most famous streets, police cruisers in pursuit.

Dramatic video taken minutes later near the U.S. Capitol showed the vehicle backing into a police vehicle before the chase resumed. Gunshots rang through the traffic circle. The motorist was shot by police just a few blocks away.

it's not about gun control – it's about people control. I was sort of hoping to hear that Sen. Cruz was winged. Not that I'm advocating violence toward another human being. Or want a visit from my local FBI.

I wonder if England was saving "we need tougher gun laws in the Americas" back in the Colonial Days?
Good thing those early Americans were 'discontent'.

Our gov't is out of control. Gun violence is not the answer but neither is gun control. Violence happens everywhere. Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the States but it did not prevent anything. Quit playing into the Gov't plan to take more Rights away.

Funny how people support 'control' of those things they do not support or approve. Pit Bulls (no I do not own one), Guns, Moonshine, Taxes, Federal and State Fees, and a whole list of other things. Maybe we need to make personal responsibility a law and penalize those that do not take care of themselves or their families. Dont force me to take care of you! I have my hands full with my own family!

People are getting very angry at this country and the way it is being run since Obama has taken office with his Socialist policies. Americans are ticked off at having an Administration shoving policies down our throats and paying higher taxes, all the while our government and President quibble.

I love people who blame guns, or think that gun control would do anything. Murderers will be murderers no matter what. If they have no access to a gun they will do it with something else, hence the stabbings a few months ago. Besides that most crimes are not committed with legal guns anyway. Thats why Brady Bill is a failure ( Gun possession by criminals has risen in the post-Brady years – 18% of state prisoners (was 16% before Brady) and 15% of federal prisoners (was 12% before Brady) were caught with firearms.23)
And NO most people dont want stricter gun control: 2012 annual Gallup Poll reported that 59% of Americans thought gun laws were properly set and 8% wanted them to be less strict.
The problem is upbringing, and/or the reliance of unneeded legal drugs. We've become so dependent on Ritalin, Adderall etc. since they are prescribed for everything, then when people stop taking them, they are worse then ever.
So easy to blame guns rather than how humans themselves act, behave or respond to the world.

What is this country coming to? Politicians on both sides should just do what's best for this country and not their re-election...

Remarkable stupidity from the gun nuts on this one. You guys like to gloat about the SCOTUS' Heller decision but still ramble about it being a "gun free zone"? Are you brain damaged?

For all we know, this could be a conspiracy to try to destabilize or put pressure on Obama's administration. Too much of coincidences... The GOP and Boehner are ready to do anything even if it means bringing instability to the whole US.

I doubt this has anything to do with the government shutdown, just some random crime. As for people crying "SEE GUN CONTROL DOESN'T WORK!", well, no piece of legislation is 100 percent effective, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be tried. Take for example Chicago, with its rampant gun crime and its harsh gun control policies. The laws there, though ineffective, inefficient and inconvenient, are still a better solution than flooding the already over saturated streets with MORE weapons by making them more accessible.

It was probably a car backfiring. This is CNN's game: keep everyone so hyped up they can't think straight, and if they can't find any junk news here to feed us, they'll troll for a shooting in Nairobi. Hey CNN, is your headline FONT BIG ENOUGH? This site is the biggest joke. I'd go back to the days of Walter Kronkite in a heartbeat.
