Wild car chase ends with suspect shot to death near U.S. Capitol

,

Washington (CNN) - She had a 1-year-old child inside and apparently was unarmed.

Instead, the motorist's black Infiniti, according to authorities, itself became a weapon Thursday afternoon, first striking a security barrier and U.S. Secret Service officer near the White House before hurtling down some of the capital's most famous streets, police cruisers in pursuit.

Dramatic video taken minutes later near the U.S. Capitol showed the vehicle backing into a police vehicle before the chase resumed. Gunshots rang through the traffic circle. The motorist was shot by police just a few blocks away.

The sign says "Do Not Block Intersection" Those cops are clearly violating the law. I guess they are just going to get away with it.

I'm waiting for Congress to crawl out from under their, most likely, bullet-proof desks, and tell America they are
sorry for the powder keg they have created, and will now do their jobs. First, deny the tea party their petty
little whining and vote a clean bill to open the government. Then do the same and pass a bill that will pay our
    debts, that they approved.
Put down your canes, stand up straight, and use your God given back bone.
This might have been a crazy person, I don't know, but I do know that if a person is desperate, they will
do desperate things, like shooting. I'm certainly not condoning this, but it could be a 'warning shot' of
what might come if Congress goes back to sleep.
Prayers to the injured and to the child who was in the car with that woman.

Such bold statements before the smoke has even settled! The only report is that shots were fired. Most likely all of them came from Law Enforcement. Perhaps the infighting in Congress is just a reflection of ourselves?

Remarkable stupidity from the gun nuts on this one. You guys like to gloat about the SCOTUS' Heller decision but still ramble about it being a "gun free zone"? Are you brain damaged?

These are the same people who cheered when Tea Party candidates promised to "shut down the government" if elected to Congress, but now they blame the Democrats when it actually happens..... ....despite the fact that Rep. Bachman declared that this is exactly what the Tea Party wanted.

CNN, please take a poll, "How many Americans were hoping that congress members had been shot, when they first heard about another DC shooting?"

Apparently we should require background checks on new mothers before issuing them a driver's license to check for PPD!

We could, but that would be a violation of reichwing god bonzo raygun's mental health patients bill of rights, or prove just what an epic failure that piece of legislatoin was, and heaven knows we can't allow anything that might besmirch his memory to happen.

Shooting of Capitol Hill. This is a wake up call! I am an angry American who is tired of listening to tea party republicans justifying their shutting down Our government not theirs. The quote from one Congressmen that they must do this because they were voted in for this? Really? Earlier another Senator was making up BS as Wolf interviewed him. He quickly back pedaled when he was questioned on his source. I am a psychologist,I know there are many unstable Americans who will .chose to shoot not tweet! Sen. Cruz needs a nap he stayed up too late, he is a baby Senator.

    Why are they surprised??

There are what 53 (republican senators) idiots holding the rest of the country hostage over a law that was already passed by a majority?

There is a simple way to get this all fixed. Take away congress' pay, take away their health care, take away ALL their benefits and give them an 80/20 Aetna health plan, a 401k plan (matching 3% of course) and 85k a year salary and make it a hanging offense to profit from insider trading information.

With the shortage of ammunition all over the country, it is good to see someone using it wisely.

Aside from my nasty comment, I do hope no one was hurt.

Indeed. Blaming it on Obama was why they asked for it and manufactured the shutdown in the first place. I believe Bachman was gloating about the shutdown, saying that it has made conservatives the happiest she's seen them since Obama's election....something like that.

Thatguyman: " no piece of legislation is 100 percent effective, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be tried. Take for example Chicago, with its rampant gun crime and its harsh gun control policies. The laws there, though ineffective, inefficient and inconvenient, are still a better solution than flooding the already over saturated streets with MORE weapons by making them more accessible."

Really? Inefffective, inefficient and inconvenient laws are better than nothing? Fess up ... you are a Senator, right?

This is not a gun control issue. The woman driving the car was not armed. She was killed by guns legally in the hands of cops. But they probably should not have killed her. Bet it was a big surprise she had a little girl in the car.

If Feds practiced marriage counseling ...

Wife: My husband cheats on me 5 nights a week.

Feds: Would you agree on 2 nights a week?

You are the most pathetic country in civilized world. You don't need gun laws.. of course not... we in Canada had strict gun laws and our murder rate with guns in the entire country barely reaches 200 a year. You have cities that get more than that in a year... I can't comprehend how to call yourself the greatest country in the world.... mind you only you do... certainly not the rest of the world.
