White House signals possible opening on debt ceiling

Washington (CNN) - Is it a glimmer of hope, or more rhetoric as the deadline for possible government default gets closer?

After weeks of near silence without any hint of a potential compromise between the Obama administration and congressional Republicans over raising the nation's debt ceiling, the White House may be offering some conciliatory language that could lead to a deal to prevent a potential default on October 17.

Right wing nut jobs seem to be happy that the 10 million visitors to the Obamacare website looking at the options have not enrolled. There were more inquiries than anticipated, but look at the bright side. it is up and running, and there will be Obamacare in 2014.

"Obama and the democrats that have run up nearly $7 trillion in debt..........."

And yet your golden girl Bachmann loves to say "we control the purse strings" and she is right. If Republicans
don't want to pay the bills, quit spending the money.
No one, not even President Obama, can spend money Congress hasn't approved.
After you crash the economy, you won't have to worry about it anymore. Better stock up on
canned beans and bottled water ----- then throw in few bandaids for your health care.

Obama is starting to panic and pee his pants. He sees his second term being an even bigger failure that his first term. Nobody thought that was possible but leave it to Obama to perfect failure to the Nth degree.

On the day that Obama was elected, the unfunded Bush republican wars that we not put on the books did not end, we are still paying for them. On the day Obama was elected, the unnecessary tax cuts for the wealthy did not end. On the day Obama was elected we were losing 8 million jobs a year. It seems we are correcting republican stupidity, but at a slower pace because the republicans refuse to do anything but obstruct.

I'm not sure this is a glimmer of hope as much as an acknowledgement of the likely outcome of this ridiculous standoff - at the last minute Congress will probably agree on another short-term funding plan that avoids default but guarantees the same standoff will reoccur in a few more weeks. It doesn't resolve the core issue that raising the debt ceiling pays for expenses already committed, and should not have anything to do with future spending.

You'll get nothing like that cash out of the ACA, and meanwhile you're burning $600 million a day in the shutdown. The GOP can waste money as good as anybody. Here's a hint- end the Bush tax cuts for the rich.

I have read about a smaller number, about $300 million per weekday, or about $1.6 billion per week.

I hope EVERYONE that is non-political realizes that if Speaker Boehner felt the clean CR would "FAIL", he would put it up for a vote. After all if it failed the Speaker would then really have the momentum and the President would feel he HAD to change his position and negotiate. This tells me one thing, Speaker Boehner KNOWS it would probably pass with only 25 to 40 Republican votes and HE would lose the Speakership for "giving" the President a victory. And for this reason alone, the President MUST stand FIRM!!! The pattern must be broken or this will happen every two or three years. Especially if the next President was once again a Democrat and the same Tea Party members are in the Congress.

I HAVE AN ANSWER!!! Govt. shut down – NO problem. Budget talks fail – U.S.A goes into the tank! NO problem! WHEN this happens, WE, the people, acting normally, file a class action lawsuit on EVERY elected official in office! Reason: Pain & Suffering; Loss of monies, Defamation of OUR names, Breach of contracts, responsibilities and any other thing WE could put in it!
