What you pay for insurance in the new marketplace is based on your credit rating.
The claim is being circulated on blogs and social media, based on a news report from an Orlando television station. It asserts that applicants for new coverage face a credit check and that people with low credit scores could pay higher premiums. Florida's new insurance marketplace, along with those in 35 other states, is run by the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In fact, says Joanne Peters, an HHS spokeswoman, the application form does not ask for a credit score and at no point in the process are people's credit scores accessed. What's more, the Affordable Care Act only allows insurers to consider three criteria in determining premiums: age, location and whether the applicant smokes. "You cannot be charged more because of your credit score," says Peters.
What a lovely example of the kind of lying in which the GOP/Teatrolls are currently engaged in an attempt to scare people away from the exchanges.
Yeah, thats not good. Since most poor folks smoke, live in bad areas, and are old are going to pay higher premiums. How does this help those folks?
Information you would never get from Fox "spews". Why is that?
Just wow. Does the Right think merely making random utterances make something fact? Or, is this just more of the Romney-esque "not meant to be a factual statement" sort of propaganda they are willing to deploy against anything they don't agree with or that doesn't match their version of reality?
Either way this sort of behavior keep calling us back to a broader concern about whether the GOP and the Right- can they be trusted when they are so transparent about being untruthful to get their way?
Where are the enrollment stats?
Actually most of those using the exchanges will likely be getting subsidies.........which is another way of saying the people of America will have to pay most of THEIR bill.
Forbes has a state map of premium prices per state...
It's VERY high...
So much for Obamacare being affordable...
You can pay 300 a month if you are young and healthy... or a 100 dollar fine once a year...
You would be foolish to sign up before you are sick... unless you get it free... but if you work you won't qualify for free
seriously premiums are way too high still they should be lower ridiculous
no but you will pay more if your not registered a dumocrat.
How can the lead health care navigator possibly make this kind of mistake? Just another shining example of the massive problems with implementing the ACA. And liberals want you to believe that it's ready? ROFLMAO
Why am I still shocked by the lies that get passed through the "news". Are the networks being held hostage by the threat of lost ad revenue?
Thanks God this is not true "What you pay for insurance in the new marketplace is based on your credit rating." Who ever egging for this want to make sure the poor with the lowest credit score keep on suffering.
As a person with investments I'm concerned with long term, not long term. The fact is, I'm sick and tired of the constant bickering and gamesmanship in Washington. Come the end of the week many assets under my name will be transferred to more stable environments. When you people get your act together, let me and people like know. Maybe we'll come back, maybe not. It's not your decision it's mine. You no longer appeal to me. I no longer care if you have work, or can pay your bills. The same as the republicans.
Why not hire the same death panel people to run credit scores ?
So why ask the score in the first place?
Oh, thats right..............the government wants to know EVERYTHING about you at ALL TIMES.
Next will be blood type, how many sexual partners you have had, if you ever sat on a public toliet seat, etc.
Where does it stop? Oh, thats right, under SOCIALISM it NEVER STOPS.
Even Wolf Blitzer is saying that OBAMACARE needs to be delayed for a year. That is BAD. Lol. I mean, a talking piece for the Democrats, and he is saying on national TV that it should infact be delayed.
The right has never met a lie that it did not like when it comes to serving their purpose.
