Paul: Obama 'does nothing to stop' war on Christianity

Washington (CNN) – Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky devoted his speech to the socially conservative Values Voter Summit to “a war on Christianity” that is being waged by “fanatics of Islam.”

Much of Paul’s speech was a list of violence against Christians across the Muslim world, highlighting what he said was “not a little problem” and something that is “not going away quickly.”

“Across the globe, Christians are under attack almost as if we lived in the Middle Ages or we lived under early pagan Roman rule,” Paul said. “This administration does nothing to stop it and it can be argued that it is giving aid and comfort to those who tolerate these crimes.”

Paul also touched upon his record, where he earlier this year he tried to put a halt to aid to Egypt – a nation Paul said was facilitating the war on Christianity.

“Earlier this year, I forced the Senate to vote to defund the Muslim Brotherhood and every Democrat voted to continue sending your money to the Muslim Brotherhood,” Paul said. “I can tell you one thing, as long as I am in the Senate, I will fight against sending any money to the Muslim brotherhood.”

He continued: “We send billions of dollars to Egypt to Pakistan. We have helped place Islamic regimes in Afghanistan and Iraq. President Obama now sends arms to Islamic rebels in Syria. In Egypt, the mob that attacked our embassy climbed on top our embassy and burned out flag, I don’t know about you, but I have had enough. I say not one penny more to any country that would burn the American flag.”

Although his remarks were filled with applause lines, Paul’s speech was noticeably more muted than his predecessor, Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

So, I guess selling islamaphobia is part of Randroid's 2016 strategy. Duly noted.

You mean like the "Christains" who are ginning up laws that promote taking civil rights away from gays? Like the "christians" working with the Russian Parlaiment to have the most aggressive anti-gay laws on the books in time for the olymics? Like the "christaisn" who went to Africa to promote killing gays?

You know Republicans have absolutely nothing to say when they trot out this baseless nonsense.

Ok, since these are the same people who insisted upon NOT helping the rebels in Syria for months, then reversed themselves when it became obvious the president felt we could asist them, and that these are teh same people who have insisted that we help the Arab Spring and are now dissatisfied with the results, what are we left to conclude? They don't want us to have a foreign policy but they do want us to take up the cross and engage in a modern-day Crusade. Conservatives suffer from bipolar disorder on foreign policy( as well as everything else), since they swing from one extreme to the other at the drop of a hat: and they say WE lack clearly defined goals.....

“We send billions of dollars to Egypt to Pakistan. We have helped place Islamic regimes in Afghanistan and Iraq. President Obama now sends arms to Islamic rebels in Syria. ..."

Republicans have a particularly troubling habit of spreading falsehoods. I'm never sure whether or their ignorance of the facts is willful or accidental. After listening to Mr. Paul's open mic discussion with McConnell, I'm pretty sure his ignorance is willful.

Aid to Egypt was cut off about a month ago, but news of it was overshadowed by the political hostage crisis in DC. Furthermore, while the President has tentatively6 approved of the idea of aiding rebels in Syria, we have yet to send any arms to anyone because we cannot figure out who are the good guys, and who are the bad guys.

Want to show some real GUTS Ron Paul ? Go back to that same group & read aloud to them some of the verses from the Gospel of Matthew. I'll help you pick them out, especially Matthew 23,1-36. You WILL see some squirming in the seats. And then go to the Senate Chamber & do the same thing.

Is it the "Christian" thing to NOT help the least amongst us? Is it the "Christian" thing to bear false witness upon thy neighbor? Is it the "Christian" thing to promote war rather than turn the other cheek? I certainly know it's NOT the "Christian" thing to protest outside the funerals of our fallen soldiers. So what kind of "Christian" are you referring to Rand? Because you're giving good & righteous Christians a bad name.

It is a shame that those of us in red nanny states will not get the benefits of Obamacare because our republican state leadership does not care about our citizens.

Perhaps if the so-called "christians" would stop declaring war on everyone else, we wouldn't be forced to fight back.

    ObamaBots need more proof?

Why was there an order from the Obama Regime to arrest any Military Chaplain if they performed any service during the Obama 2013 Shutdown?

It was a Right that was once guaranteed by the Constitution regardless of affiliation (Muslim, Catholic, Hindi, Judaism, Scientology, etc.).

However this Regime has shown constant distain for the freedoms that this country once stood for.

Obama: the Constitution is truly dead.

    Mahatma Ghandi –
I like your CHRIST but I don't like your christians, your christians are so unlike CHRIST.

I can't believe what these gang of pharisees and saducees are spewing out of their mouths, they call themselves Christians but they are acting like the people who murdered him.

    JESUS CHRIST –
It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man it is what comes out of his mouth that defiles him.

" I say not one penny more to any country that would burn the American flag."

In spite of ALL the simbolism this act carries with it... it's perfectly legal to ANYONE in the USA to burn the 'Old Glory' just like:
    - Be against the banishment of abortions.
    - Be for the banishment of abortions.
    - Be a neonazi and spread out all sort of lies about Hitler, the WWII and (of course) Jews.
    - Be a lonely guy or gal or member of an organization whose purpose in existence is debunk all neonazi lies.
    - Be a Tea Party organization member.
    - Be against any Tea Party organization.
    - Be against or for everything or anything or something that lies under the Sun.

It's in the 1st Ammendment dude.

Huh? If there's a "war" over Christianity, it's happening as a natural result of intellectual evolution. Politics has no business in religion, and religion has no business in politics.
