    Is Sen. Mike Lee, R-UT, helping to pay for it? He should be. He played a large role in bringing about the shutdown. He had campaigned on doing it, and now it's mission accomplished.

    I just found out that Utah doesnt bring enough taxes in to cover the states expenses, so guess what they rely on the GOVERNMENT to help. Blue states like California and New Jersey bring in much more then they receive in return from the government so Utah feeds off states like California and New Jersey. So Mike Lee should be thanking government, but he is typical GOP hypocrite.

    If this is true then our system really is broken because no one can shut down the government!!
    The treasury says we are not going to pay your people but they insist they can pay out of state funds and get re-imbursement from the federal government/ treasury when the " shutdown finishes" what shut down??
    Who is listening to this rubbish and illogical thought process.
    If the fed says we aint paying, then the state has to budget and pay for its actions themselves. No re-imbursement from the federal govt That's how we stop increasing the federal deficit and debt.
    Utah want s to pay em separation fo sate and fed fine but go away with federal re-imbursement.

    @Rick McDaniel,

    Try reading the article, guy. The state is paying the Feds to open up the parks. Welcome to extortion, rebellion-style - but then, I suppose, you approve?

    Another announcement that you didn't read the article? Utah is making an agreement with the federal gov't. The federal gov't OWNS those parks. Utah does not. None of this happens at all without the federal gov't allowing it to, which is to say, the federal gov't is an absolute necessity to Utah doing this.
