After House vote called off, Senate reboots talks on shutdown, debt plan

(CNN) - Shortly after Republican leaders of the House of Representatives canceled plans for a Tuesday night vote, the two top figures in the Senate rebooted their own talks aimed at ending the U.S. budget standoff.

Spokesmen for Democratic Sen. Harry Reid and GOP Sen. Mitch McConnell - their chamber's majority leader and minority leader, respectively - said Tuesday night that they restarted negotiations aimed at creating legislation that would fully reopen the government and raise the nation's debt ceiling.

McConnell's numbers aren't looking to good. Grimes has him scared. It's going to be fun to watch Mr filibuster as he tries for once to be sensible. I guarantee if he had a safe lead over Grimes, he'd be Cruz's buddy right now. Pathetic!

Senators do not run for office in highly gerrymandered districts. They have to run statewide. They are not as "safe". So they tend to make more sense.

In gangland Chicago, circa 1920-1930, you had people like Al Capone, Frank Nitty, Bugs Moran, to name a few that were the mafia of the day, that would sell you "insurance". And if you didn't keep your premiums up, they had "enforcers", that would break your legs, cut off fingers, hold you down and put acid in your eyes, or whack you, to name a few. Now 90 years later its 2013. And frankly, I never thought I'd see the day, the United States government is almost lending itself to the same criminal behavior. I'm shocked and appauled the way government has sent this country in a Marxist tail spin.

These clowns are playing fast and loose, with the peoples trust. But if it does go over the fiscal cliff, you have only yourselves to blame. For many years after the great depression, republicans couldn't buy an election. The people that lived through that one, made sure that the republicans were kept at arms length. If they did get closer, the people checked their wallets and counted their fingers.
