CNN's John King at the magic wall examines whether or not the shutdown could shake up the majority control in the House.
Unlikely. Basically, Dems and liberals need to get into a frenzy similar to the one conservatives had in 2009-10. Libs don't get into frenzies; hence Bush in 04.
But we WILL hold onto the Senate (may even gain seats, there), and decrease the GOPhers lead in the House. I'm thinking 2016 before Dems get the House back. The gerrymandering, much like the stupid, hurts. We'll get there someday though ... and hopefully still have it in 2020 during census time, for the love of god.
in this moment in time highly unlikely do to districts locked in place. the year 2020 it might be posible
The Republican brand is seriously damaged. If the GOP persists with their anti-American government shutdowns; narrow, radical ideologies; ant- women legislation; anti-civil rights and anti-voter legislation-
You can bet on it!
No, I don't think so. If anything, the Dems just might lose seats. The Dems lost a lot more support than the media claims they did.
The Democrats taking the House is highly unlikely because the GOtP has gerrymandered safe districts for themselves...but it is possible
It would be comforting to know that we'd (more than likely), not be pushed as a nation to the brink of financial disaster with the other party attempting to ruin the nations good will or credit rating. That in it self is worth the republicans losing the House.
Democrats wont take the house , but it will be almost even !
From your lips to God's ear!
Weird concept; in one respect, the TP won hugely on the shutdown. They make no secret their intent to take over the GOP, and during the shutdown, the TP was able to intimidate enough of the GOP caucus to shut down the government, push it to the edge of insolvency, and bend the speaker of the house to their will. That's a helluva display of power. As for future shutdowns, that is entirely in the hands of whoever is pulling the strings behind the TP.
Yes. And they will in 2014, then expand their majorities in 2016 at the same time the Clintons move back into the WH.
After blowing 24 Billion dollars on a political stunt...........do ya really think?
If they do then this Country might as well kiss their ass and money goodby.
We will become socialist for sure.
Well, TEA-GOP, this is the price you pay for trying to DESTROY Americas CREDIT RATING!
One can only hope that there are enough voters out there to make sure it happens.
Probably not, unless they get more help from Republicans. Fortunately, Republicans are more than willing to help. Cruz's aide said the other day that Cruz won't rule out another government shutdown. With continuing Republican stupidity, a Democratic takeover of the House in 2014 cannot be ruled out.
I have always believed in a 2 party system that keeps the 'checks in balance', so to speak! Right now we have 3! 1 party has infiltrated & leeched onto the Grand Ol' Party, making it the GOTP! The Tea Party has, in 3 short years, changed the GOP into nonrecognizability & made them extreme to the point of anarchy! The Real Republicans should clean up their party & send the T-lunatics packing! If they want to continue being a party, they should do it the legal way, by declaring their affiliation & let people vote! That's not how they do things, though, they use devious means to get what they want! They know they wouldn't have a chance in he.ll as a stand alone party! Our misson is to identify them & Vote Them Out as though our lives depended on it, 'cause they do!!
1. Thinks republicans are conservatives.
2. Thinks they themselves are rich.
3. Makes less than $100,000/yr.
4. Has a net worth less than $200,000.
5. Most likely are retired and on SS and Medicare or will be the person most likely to need SS and Medicare.
6. Primary residence is on wheels or blocks.
7. Thinks they are religious but they should read the book, "How NOT To Be a Republican" (a.k.a. The Bible).
8. More likely to support the ACA than Obamacare.
10. Actually thinks republicans represent THEM!!!!!
The American people who employed(elected) both the House and Senate are so passively ignorant on who holds the upmost power of this country. In a democracy like this, for me alone, I feel the American people need to hold referendum to fire both the House and Senate. And re-elect new members to the House and the Senate who have the total interested of American people and America's World leadership at heart.
@Ed1–Do you pay a second grader to write these posts for you, or are you really that into fairytales.
Since the republicans own most of the judges in Texas its unlikely any legal actions on redistricting will every happen.
The last time I voted the Republican voting judge almost got into the booth with me to see how I was voting, I just stood and didnt do anything until she went back and sat down in her chair. If they assume you are a Democrat in Texas they try rush you thru the voting procedure seemingly that you will make a mistake your vote will be thrown out.
i dont think the Clintons will ever move back into the White House, I think Hilary Is intelligent enough, but I dont think her temperament would allow her to get elected or do the job. She and the idiot from Alaska are both too arrogant to fit the job.
I kissed my way up to VP at a health insurance company. Now I take over $600,000 of your health care dollars for NO VALUE ADDED to your health care. And that’s just me. Now think about how many other VPs, Directors, Managers, etc. are at my company alone. Now multiply that by thousands of others at hundreds of other health insurance companies. From 10 to 25% of your health care dollars go towards administration that adds NO VALUE to your health care. But my company’s PAC dollars will continue to fool you little people into thinking that a single payer system will be bad. Little people like you are so easy to fool. Little people also don’t realize that a single payer system is the ONLY system that would allow little people (as an entire country) to negotiate better health care prices. Little people don’t realize that the Medical Cartels already know that. And that is the reason why the Medical Cartels spend so much PAC money from the hospitals and doctors lobbying against a single payer system. Some little people say that a single payer system would cost you little people more. But if that were true, then wouldn’t the hospitals and doctors WANT that extra money? Yes they would. So why do the Medical Cartels lobby against a single payer system? It’s because the Medical Cartels know it would allow little people to negotiate better health care prices. And that’s what the Medical Cartels are afraid of. Period.
But us big wigs at insurance companies, hospitals, and pharmacy companies don’t ever need to worry about health care no matter what it costs. We get our health care paid for one way or another by you little people. And we get the little people that work at our companies to contribute to our PACs. And us big wigs say it’s to protect the little peoples’ jobs. But in reality it would be in the little peoples’ best interest to NOT contribute to the PAC. Again, little people are so easily fooled. I won’t ever have to worry about losing my job with so many little people being brain washed by the Medical Cartels’ PAC money. Not only that, the Medical Cartels’ PAC money is used to elect so many republicans that will never allow a single payer system. Republicans have always fought against any meaningful health care reform. But that’s what our Medical Cartels’ PACs pay them for. Politicians can be bought so easily.
Pretty soon the only people that will be able to afford health care is us big wigs. And that’s the way it should be. We don’t want you little people using up the resources when we need them. And once again, I thank you little people for capping my SS tax at the $113,700 level. Now I only pay 1.2% SS tax and you little people pay 6.2%. Also, thank you for extending my tax breaks. I’m using the extra money on my vacation houses.
Unfortunitly , MONEY MAKES THE DIFFERENCE. So if some big money (FREE SPEECH, I mean,) steps up for the democracs, and we get a good dose of all the silly republican sound bits from the last go round, I'm hopeful, that the dems will win the house. Hopefully, when and if they do, they'll remember where the repbublicans approvel rating went to, and they'll clean up their act and pass some MEANINGFULL legislation to improve things for the working poor, and middle class
If the voters are still angry at the GOP, no amount of gerrymandering will save them.
The case can be made for the Democrats taking back the House. The most recent GOP actions has certainly help the Democrats chances.
