Obama hosts a wedding

Washington (CNN) - President Obama played wedding host this weekend.

Pete Souza, the Chief Official White House photographer, and Patti Lease were married in the Rose Garden Saturday night, according to a White House official.

White House Military Chaplain Stanley Fornea performed the ceremony with roughly 35 family members and friends in attendance, the official said.

Souza has officially chronicled Obama since he was elected president, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the president and first family through the White House Flickr page, his Twitter account and the more recently launched Instagram account.

He served as White House photographer during former President Ronald Reagan’s second term and more recently spent almost a decade at the Chicago Tribune’s Washington bureau, where he recorded then Sen.-Obama’s rise and ultimately wrote “The Rise of Barack Obama.”

"Creating a good photographic archive for history is the most important part of my job, creating this archive that will live on," Souza told PBS in 2010. "This is not so much photojournalism as photo-history."

In other news President Obama used the restroom. The GOP has called for an investigation...

Since the President and the photographer both live and work at the Whitehouse it made perfect sense to have their wedding their I'm sure the couple paid for the wedding and 35 guests is a very small wedding.

I am so pleased with my decision to vote for Barack Obama in 2012, and support this president more than any other in my life.

This begs the question .... .... ... who was the official wedding photographer?

LOL at the comments from "conservatives".

Guys: your rebel heroes in the house just set $28 billion on fire to no purpose whatever. You are no longer allowed to gripe about wasteful spending this cycle. Kind of a credibility thing.

Keep up the hate haters. He's still the POTUS and he's still in charge. It's his home for 8 years, he can host whatever the hell he wants. Just like every other POTUS in history.

To those of you concerned about whether or not we taxpayers paid for the reception or security or whatever for Pete:
The GOP took $24 BILLION out of the economy in a reckless, unnecessary government shutdown.
    $24 BILLION AMERICAN DOLLARS.
    So please, stfu.

After blowing $24 billion on a mindless hissy fit, the GOP now wants to make up for it by limiting functions in the White House . What will the baggers do next, demand Obama eliminate tissue paper in the bathrooms?

The same amount of tax money would have been spent irregardless of whether a wedding was held or not. The President never left the White House, there was no travel expense involved. There still would have been same level of security. Seeing how the President pays for all of his own meals, he no doubt paid for any meals associated with the wedding out of his own pocket.

When you can come up with something that required tax dollars, will you let us know about it?

Some of you bloggers are unbelievable. The Rose garden is just setting there. it is nice to see it is used once in awhile. I'm sure that no tax money was spent on this wedding. The president would make sure of that because he knows how quick some of you would yell about the tax payers money. if the truth is known, most of you complainers never even pay taxes.

PRIVATE Functions as such are not permitted on government property at Government expense. Do you really think Souza paid all the costs of security, etc? I think not. While its not a big deal, its the image. For weeks, Americans could not tour the "Peoples House" but the planning for a private wedding continued. Just saying....

At least it's a wedding for the WH photographer and not a B actress running naked from room to room.

OH he can host parties and weddings, but still cannot lead a nation. Sounds about par for a public organizer.

Obama helps a crony out who was a biased journalist for him before taking a WH job. What a shocker.

The groom has postponed the honeymoon until 2016... unless he gets another assignment. The bride understands... so far.

This is why President Obama is one of the BEST presidents we have had. He seems like one of us and is willing to come down to us "little people's" level. Past GOP presidents are too aloof and would only give me the time of day or ask me over to the WH if I was a rich donor, whereas President Obama would have no problem sitting down with me and eating a meal or sharing a laugh.
