Official: Federal health care site should be fully functioning by end of November

(CNN) - The Obamacare website, plagued by major problems since its rollout at the start of the month, should be functioning smoothly by the end of November, according to the official now in charge of fixing it.

Jeffrey Zients told reporters on Friday that an outside contractor will handle the task of resolving technical problems that have become a serious political flashpoint for the Obama administration.

"Healthcare.gov is fixable," Zients said on a conference call.

So they had over three years and didn't make sure it worked
but now, it will work smoothly within one month.
So how much will all this extra work cost?
And how come no one is in trouble over this?
Only in govt is incompetence appreciated and promoted

    Obamacare will self-destruct anyway.
    It's fundamentally flawed.
There will be serious cashflow deficiencies starting January 2 and get worse from then on.

If anyone came out and said they will fix that mess in the next 36 days, you can pretty much guarantee that they are full of crap.

The REAL problem is we invented a whole new bureaucracy on top of the buttload of administration work already plaguing health care.

The REAL solution is to go to a single player system, like every other first world nation. Its time to cut off the MASSIVE overhead our health care system has, which has nothing to do with providing actual care. You get sick, you should just go to a doctor, and at the end of the year every citizen pays their part of that total bill. If everything that was currently spent on administration(including insurance policy profits) was spent on health care, it would easily be half the cost.

    Grace
There is always the Republican plan – go to the hospital and plead and beg for charity care

The ACA does nothing to chose of doctor. Each plan is different and some will offer you broad choice and some less choice

Single payer – Medicare for all was the dream of Kennedy and Hillary. BO decided that to get something passed he would use the current PRIVATE system and a Heritage right wing model. But people call it socialist because BO proposed it when we all know it is Romney care just with a different name

The reason Reps have no alterative over 3 years (no replace action plan or design) is precisely because a moderate Rep President would put this ACA in – v one payer the government being the one

By the way – if this does not work – then we will default as a nation to one government central controlled plan because today we pay 50% more then any other western civilized nation for the same health care and the same outcomes and that cost is the deficit that is looming and will be solved by either killing Medicare (the top 5% do well the rest are screwed) – or offering Medicare to all . Not sure why I worry for you as I am in the top 2%

I'm waiting patiently. I need this insurance badly. As a small business owner buying insurance on the open market now I can tell you it's TERRIBLE. I pay a ton for sub-standard service and crazy high deductibles.

There has been a major government program rolled out and not encounter initial glitches, even in private companies. People should look at the bigger picture of getting health care to the the majority of people who don't have it. The glitches can be fixed. People should not try to get political capital out of this because they won't get it because the ACA will succeed.

if there was not a vindictive childish house repeal bill each month – this would have been tested in public sooner and broader

but we all know software systems – private and public – fail 99% of early tests

and the WH and CMMS did not want to give FOX news grenades as the House Reps sniped at this plan to help 30 million Americans (while leaving the other 300 million alone)

If the house had worked on jobs jobs and jobs as they promised v attacking women and the ACA – this role out would have been pre tested and gone well

So, do we the taxpayers get our money back? If I purchase a service, and the provider fails to deliver that service as discussed, they don't get paid. Please tell me the parties responsible for this mess suffer the same. I'm sure there are some that worked very hard on this, but it is obvious that the majority set the bar very low. There should not be a reward for subpar performance.

SUCH HYPOCRISY on the part of the Republicans and all their supporters on here and elsewhere !!!

Point to ANY such attempt by the Republicans to launch much less care for the millions of Americans who could not buy healthcare coverage due to pre-existing conditions!

Bottom line here is "Oblammercare" is a train wreck and it's only going to get worse! This is going to hurt the Democrats in 2014 is a big way. I don't know why the Republicans just don't get out of the way and let the trainwreck happen and then we can rid this country of the big government liberal utopia that has been FORCED on us which is doomed for failure! Also good luck with your privacy on the Oblammercare website becuase you don't have any!!!!!! More big brother, what a joke!

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA -aka- Take Back The House -aka- No Redemption Votes

It's functional now!!! I got enrolled earlier this week with no problems.
    ------
I guess I'm confused, Dutch. Over time on the ticker, you've told us you were covered under the VA healthplan, under the healthplan you have as a "medical provider", etc. etc. Why in the world do you need Obamacare?

Should be = Shoulda coulda woulda. With my 33 years of International IT experience on Major system design development and implementation this will cause contractors to work 24/7. My money is on it will not be ready and error free and able to handle hundreds of thousands of simultaneous users. Not enough time for Quality end-to-end testing. It will be slammed to production hoping for the best. Rewriting the millions of lines of code has a Huge implied assumption that the business process is mapped 100% accurate.
