(CNN) - A political consultant out of New York has been indicted on federal fraud charges, accused of defrauding the state's Democratic Senate Campaign Committee of $100,000, according to court documents.
The committee serves as the re-election arm for Democratic state senators in New York, and is not related to the national Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Melvin Lowe, a political consultant in New York City, has worked for various developers, consultants and political organizations, according to the documents. He's been charged with multiple counts that include wire fraud and filing false tax returns.
Among the charges is that in 2010 Lowe billed the DSCC for $100,000 in printing services, which the committee never received.
The documents allege that Lowe then used $70,000 of that money to build a pool at a second home he owned in Georgia.
