Obama dips under 40% in new poll

(CNN) – President Barack Obama's nearing his all-time low approval rating in Gallup polling.

According to Gallup's latest daily tracking poll, which was conducted Saturday through Monday and released Tuesday afternoon, 39% of Americans approve of the job the President's doing in the White House, with 53% saying they disapprove.

Obama's all-time low approval rating in Gallup polling was 38%, which he briefly sank to in 2011, and his disapproval rating rose to a record 54% that same year.

The president's approval rating has stood in the low to mid 40's in most non-partisan live operation national polls conducted over the past couple of weeks.

Obama's approval rating, in the aftermath of his 2012 re-election, hovered in the low 50's in most surveys around the time of second inauguration in January of this year.

A president's standing in public opinion polling is considered a gauge of his clout.

I told you he should have pivoted to jobs and the economy, instead of immigration reform.

There is a rush away from the President. It's amazing. People don't know a lie when they hear one. They need lies to manifest in order to see for themselves. We need common sense back in America.

It is so obvious Obamacare as promised is doomed. There is no free lunch. How profound can it get?

  4. ThinkAgain: Hey, GOP, where's our $24 billion reimbursement check?

@Wilson: "Ahhh yes, subsidies. Where do those subsidies come from? Oh yeah, the people whose premiums increased. So, basically, obamacare is a tax increase to take from hard working people and give it to the "gimmedats."
    $"

And before Obamacare your insurance premiums never went up – right? Guess what was driving that cost? Paying for the care of the uninsured and under-insured who sought primary care treatment at emergency rooms.

And if you're looking for "gimmedats," turn your gaze away from the majority of people who receive public assistance – the elderly, the disabled, the students, the vets and children – and turn it towards the Wall Streeters and the rich who hide their money in offshore accounts to avoid taxes and the oil industry which receives billions in subsidies, even though they are enjoying record profits.

The working poor are just that: WORKING. If you don't want them to receive public assistance, then demand they be PAID A LIVING WAGE.

All the GOPers who have ignored their dismal 20% approval rating and claim the polls are "liberal polls" will now turn into the hypocrites they are and try and use this poll as fuel.

This ACA fraud has the hallmark of another Water Gate...lies covering up lies, deception, purposely hurting Americans pocket books. I say let him fall even further...then start the impeachment proceedings next summer. Let Obama hurt for a good time like the rest of Americans are right now losing their health insurance.

Big surprise, every 2nd term president poll numbers go down the toilet. It doesn`t help that the ACA is a complete mess. I said from day one that the dems took a huge gamble with the ACA and as of now its coming back to bite them.

Those percentages are about twice as high as Obama deserves. Obama combined the worst qualities of both Carter and Nixon, all rolled into one narcissistic man.

Hope and change, eh? I thought Obama was going to change the way things were done in Washington. I thought he was going to have the most transparent administration ever. Turns out, he is even more corrupt and deceptive than anyone in the history of the White House.

You can't "correct" an already correct statement. Typical sniffit, when you lose you resort to insults. Your credibility continues to fall faster than obama's popularity numbers.

This fascination CNN has with polls is beyond absurd.

Im fine with those numbers. Republicans have done an excellent job of obstructing and sabotaging everything.
But what's the Republican Congress approval rating at now?

Oh, and what about that 24 billion that probably couldve just gone toward health care, instead of making a mute point about it.

"I told you he should have pivoted to jobs and the economy, instead of immigration reform."

I fail to see any data herein or elsewhere that proves you were right. You're still just asserting that your suggestion would have resulted in better numbers, and there's nothing to support that. I mean, c'mon Rudy, let's face it...the guy is taking a hit for very specific reasons right now. No pivot he made would save him from it in the short-term and the GOP/Teatrolls are going to hang themselves by obstructing jobs/economic legislation no more or less than they're going to hang themselves by obstructing immigration reform. At least with respect to the latter, there's a Senate bill that has been passed containing concrete border security measures that the GOP/Teatrolls in the House look 100% foolish and hypocritical for obstructing. It has basically reduced the issue to whether the GOP/Teatrolls are willing to blow up immigration reform that contains everything they could want in terms of border security, just because they don't want a 13 year path to citizenship and want them NEVER to become citizens because they so fear the voting trend of that demographic. That's going to have more impact in 2014 than the GOP/Teatrolls yet again blocking stimulus or other job creation efforts that are more nebulous and haven't even passed the Senate yet. As it is, the GOP/Teatrolls in the House certainly plan to threaten another shutdown and debt ceiling crisis to harm the economy and recovery and blame it on Obama. They're not going to entertain anything he suggests that would do the opposite.
