(CNN) – The Department of Health and Human Services is trying to prove that all is not lost with the so-far disastrous rollout of HealthCare.gov, insisting there are people who have found that the website worked just fine.
"The site was very easy to use," said a New Hampshire woman identified as Deborah L. in an online video touted Saturday in a new HHS blog post. The video is dated October 22.
"The site is getting better each week," the blog post said Saturday, ticking off measures the department has undertaken to fix the maligned website like hiring a management expert, adding servers to improve speed and overhauling the account registration process. The administration has vowed HealthCare.gov will be fixed by the end of November.
And the blog post offered a few examples to back up its assertions that some have found the website usable. That runs counter to the narrative of pervasive problems with Obamacare's online exchanges, which have been documented in the media and by Republicans in heated Congressional hearings.
GOP weekly address: The ‘betrayal’ of Obamacare
"I enrolled in a plan on HealthCare.gov," a Florida college student named Daniel said in another HHS video dated October 21, noting that he was able to find a cheap health insurance plan online.
"Once I was on the site it was pretty easy for me to compare plans. I was able to pick a much higher quality plan."
The lion's share of the Affordable Care Act website news since the exchanges went live October 1 has been negative, with stories of people unable to log on, confused about options and, in some cases, finding plans that were more expensive than the ones they had before.
Documents show first days of Obamacare rollout worse than initially realized
President Barack Obama has been fiercely criticized over a promise he made repeatedly that those who want to keep their insurance would be able to do so.
That promise was never going to hold true for a small percentage of the population, we now know – mostly people whose insurance did not meet the minimum standards of coverage mandated by the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare.
Obama has since apologized for that promise, but the language keeps popping up.
A page on the White House website still has a sentence that reads: "If you like your plan you can keep it and you don't have to change a thing due to the health care law."
The very next sentence on the page links users to the video interview in which the President apologized for making just that promise.
Asked by CNN why the White House didn't change the "if you like it you can keep it" line on the White House web site, a White House official said, "The website gets updated all the time. The update reflects our most recent interviews and comments on the topic."

ACA IS A LAW. GOP is playing a big drama, this nation knows, world knows. Nothing wrong with Healthcare Law.
True: If you have to change plans, it is because of your insurance company and/or your employer, not because of the ACA. Didn't this ever happen before the ACA? The factual answer is absolutely yes.
This is not rocket science, folks. The smears of your corporate media are designed to sensationalize a non-issue, and libel Mr. Obama as a liar. If you want examples of outright presidential lies, they are not hard to come by, from any administration's tenure. It is pure BS to call Obama dishonest, simply because the way he described the law can now be undermined by the vulture-like insurance companies deciding to cancel a plan, which they do sometimes to avoid bringing it into compliance with ACA, and sometimes just because they happen to feel like it.
If you want to rail on someone, rail on the dudes taking your money. If you don't know who they are, you need look no further than the top executives of our largest corporations. Take the wealth and incomes of the top 400 of those, and think about them a little. They are the ones buying your Congress-critters wholesale, and they are the ones pulling the puppet-strings of democracy and they are the pay-masters doling out pittance wages to hard-working people.
But Hannity hired people who lied. They used every Koch talking point, and were later found out that they were clueless.
Question.......What will Fox (dba faux) have to broadcast after the website is humming along toward 7 million signups by March 31.................Any other controversies that you can fabricate out of nothing?
A real double-edge knife for the GOP: The ACA web site works (what will they whine about now?!), and; middle class and poor people being able to sign up for health care insurance- the horror!
Now that CBS has officially apologized for their bogus Benghazi report two weeks ago once again wiping out that "controversy", and the ACA web site apparently now functional, what is Mr. Issa going to do with himself? What about the GOP? Will they actually attempt to pass a bill in the House this session to cover their complete inaction? Or, will they go for the clean sweep of doing nothing for America?
Inquiring minds want to know!
The five million or so people who's insurance was cancelled were simply:
1. One year plans
2. One illness away from disaster
3. Insurance company's knowingly ripped off customers, knowing their insurance did not meet the new requirements.
4. Those insurance policies could have been upgraded by the underwriter to meet the new standards.
lesson folks, dont get unnerved, i know the independent voters routed the dems in 2010 because they got wood winkled by the repubs shouting jobs jobs jobs, then when they went to congress tried to destroy every jobs program the dems put forward. lesson independent voters, how much more of the repubs crap will you lesson to before you consider yourselves insane. the repubs are a bunch of intrenched white guys that have been running this country the trickle down way for centuries, and i know that their propaganda machines are gigantic compare to a bunch of minorities and women that are in the dems party, even though they love to shout about the lame stream media as if they are not the ones that owns them. its time we move forward, and look at what happening around us and get our head out of this fantasy world the repubs love to paint us in.
Why aren't the enrollment statistics available and made public, now? It would only prove whether the program is a success or not?
Yes they are, even repug families that have gone on faux news to denounce the ACA found out that it works for them.
it took me 3 days to get through the process just to find out I couldn't afford the lowest plan .So ive registered but didnt sign up , taking the tax penalty and hopng for a huge failure that will take the law off the books. personally I feel O should be impeached for lying and forcing the people to take something the dont want and penalizing them for not taking it .
In Somewhere, U.S.A. is a 90 year old man who smokes 2 packs of Camel non-filters, drinks a fifth of Jack everyday while watching T.V. The farthest he's walked in the last 20 years is from the couch to the bathroom. Has never been sick a day in his life, and never been to a doctor.
Just as the above story is proof the website is working, this is proof we don't need health insurance.
the war on the obamacare revolution by the repubs is rediculous. these repub think they can just go to congress and support their trickle down masters and leave the American people on the side of the road while their masters takes American money, get the Chinese to make cheap stuff then bring them back to america and sell it for 10 time what it cost for the Chinese to make. lesson folks Obama is one of the only president Ive seen in my lifetime that focus on Americans. he is trying to make Americans life easier against the relentless and the obamacare will help keep folks out of bankruptcy when their failing health or unemployment go south.
StuffIt, the Koch toadie, receives benefits from Medicare D. That little socialist is hypocritical, like most baggers.
No, really.....we have had almost 20 people sign up! The web site is getting better and better every day! Now it will handle two simultaneous users! And the prices are unbelievable.....no....really unbelievable.....that's what people are telling us....I can't believe these ridiculous prices. And to make sure there is enough room for all of you....we have told government employees and our close friends that they are exempt from these laws.....
(( we now know – mostly people whose insurance did not meet the minimum standards of coverage mandated by the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare. ))
NO ones coverage meet the standards!! If I am wrong prove it.
I'm signing up as soon as it's fixed, GOP idiots make a big deal out of nothing and have NOTHING to offer . What do they stand for???? Nobody knows. Runing AGAINEST healthcare for FIVE years is going nowhere and you will find out when you lose the house in nov 2014. You have the dumbest agenda and canadates ever with your GOP teaparty hillbillies and hicks!!!!!!
ok people are signing up.. Here in WA state they are, 35,000 of them and 31,000 get it free, and last week they admitted giving free health care to 8,000 who will have to pay for it. What a mess. So, obama wants us to disregard reality and believe this is a good thing....yeah right, and Iran loves us too...hahaha
Only time will tell, whether the ACA is going to work or not. Democrats knew 3 years ago the millions of American would lose their healthcare due to the mandates placed on insurance companies to carry certain provisions in all policies that some Americans do not want/need. Choices have been taken away from the American consumer. There will be those who just pay the tax and those who purchase some insurance from the same company that they already had. Then their are those who may go to the exchanges only because of the subsides the government will hand out , but few, not many qualify. In order to change, or stop the ACA, one must vote the Democrats out of office and make it possible. Increase the majority of Republicans also to stop any veto. The Democrats have/knowingly misled the American people. They do not deserve to be re-elected/elected.
Jpmichigan, Americans can still keep their plans, they just have to pay more because their old plans are illegal. Their new plans will not have lifetime limits on coverage, unlike their old plans. Their new plans must devote 80% of the premiums to health care. Their old plans can spend more on administrative costs and bonuses.
Republicans are outraged that they were misled on keeping their plans. This comes from the same people who constantly accuse Obama of lying. You never believe Obama on anything in the first place. Why the outrage now?
