Graham to keep holds on Obama nominees

Washington (CNN) - Sen. Lindsey Graham vowed on Sunday that he would continue to block President Barack Obama's nominations until Congress hears from Benghazi survivors.

The South Carolina lawmaker told CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union" that he will place holds on any nomination put forth by the administration unless it makes available five survivors of the September 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, who have been interviewed by State Department investigators but remain out of Congress' reach.

"I've been trying for a year to get these interviews without holds," Graham said.

Graham scoffed at any notion his maneuver amounts to political grandstanding, portraying his actions as a last resort and couching them as part of "trying to perform oversight."

"I don't want to hold anybody. All I want to do is talk to the survivors," Graham insisted. "I'm not trying to prosecute a crime."

Graham announced his intention to hold all of Obama’s nominations the day after CBS's "60 Minutes" aired a controversial report on the attacks. The newsmagazine has since pulled its report, saying that its eyewitness, a British contractor stationed in Libya, lied to reporter Lara Logan about what he saw on the ground.

When pressed by Crowley about whether the debunking of the piece would impact his stance, Graham told her it wouldn’t.
"I never asked for the British contractor. I didn't know he existed," Graham said.

Also in Sen. Graham's press release:
     • The Earth is 6000 years old.
     • Global warming is a myth.
     • Evolution is a Commie plot.
     • Obama was born in Kenya.
     • Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11.
     • Racial discrimination is dead.
     • Jesus was blond, blue-eyed, and spoke English with a Georgia accent.

In short, please don't trouble Lindsay Graham with all that icky "science", "fact", and "reason" nonsense.

This ploy by Senator Graham to appeal to the ultra-ignorant tea party right by challenging the President is of course totally transparent to anyone with half a brain. That said- South Carolina has the lowest high school graduation rate in the country- need I say more?

The administration has refused to make the survivors available to Congress with oversight authority granted by the constitution...this is a an act of contempt of Congress.

The administration has perpetrated a scorched earth campaign against any GOP actions in Congress...they simply don't believe they are accountable to anyone in the minority party. That's not how our government works nor is supposed to work. The Democrats have been employing the "tyranny of the majority" method of governance and have the audacity to complain about the minority party being "obstructionists" for not merely rubber stamping their agenda.

People blame the GOP for shutting down the government but they were left with no other options. The zero involvement/zero negotiations tactics of the Obama Admin and Congressional Democrats toward anything GOP leaves nothing but nuclear options. The truth is that Obama would not give an inch on his signature legislation...knowing full well that it was not ready. Instead of being a leader and saying "I won't give you a year but how about six months" for delaying the onset, he held firm like a petulant child. If he'd have relented to six months, he would have looked like a he looks stupid and incompetent.

It is difficult to believe, that Graham, who says he is VERY concerned with oversight of Benghazi, never heard of the British contractor or his allegations. I find that very troubling, in that he is either not telling the truth, or he is making a huge issue about something he hasn't bothered to keep well informed about. So what gives?

CBS has already admitted that the report that started all this is bogus!!! Unlike rats, the GOP is too stupid to leave a sinking ship and their behavior stopped being acceptable before The Decider and his minions left office, leaving this country with a financial disaster caused only by cheating and greed, which is their Have and Have Mores common characteristics.

Senator Graham, me thinks you protest too much!!

This administration has gone to extreme measure to ensure the survivors don't get to tell THEIR story.
They bet nothing would happen and they lost that bet and deflected responsibility everywhere but where it should go.

Just imagine if Americans put up as much of a fuss when almost 4,000 Americans died in New York City Under the Cheney/Shrub administration?

    Dear Congressman:
Remember who elected you. It was us. We sent you to Washington to pass budgets, make sensible laws, work with other elected leaders, and work to make life better for us. Start doing this (it's your job and is why we sent you to Washington) or resign so we can send someone who will.

    We the people

You wouldn't actually want to do your job in DC like review and vote on appointments, pass legislation to help create jobs, build needed infrastructure, maybe even work on a budget – NO you would rather sit in a committee hearing and try and dump on the President and throw dirt at the probable Democratic nominee for President. It is all politics, just politics and getting re-elected. You all make me more and more determined to vote against every incumbent in 2014.

Honor and integrity and loyalty is what is needed to govern a country. Before all that Christ needs to be put first in our lives. The demoncats have no concept of this and that's why they are crumbling from within.

This man doesn't believe human beings are having an effect on our climate. He doesn't believe that evolution exists. He may not even believe the earth is spherical. And he doesn't believe that no matter how deep he digs, he's not going to find some Byzantine conspiracy over Benghazi. He's a small little person who likes to see his face on CNN and to hear himself talk. He's a lightweight who is out of his depth in the US Senate.

Perhaps we should go back and hold someone accountable for our going into Iraq before we start with this.

The rest of the country is struggling to move forward, and these fools, and I'd certainly include Issa in that definition too, have to satisfy their egos. I hope most of these GOP jerks get their heads handed to them in the mid-terms.

Graham was the one who said we should just bomb Iran , so what the hell did he expect the Iranians to say ? This is idiotic meddling by Graham , at the same time he is holding up the Presidents nominations for more testimony on another fake scandal , Benghazi . I'm more scared and worried about right wingers like Graham and the Tpartiers and even Mitt Romney for making public comments that influence things they know nothing about or the state of ongoing negotiations . You do prefer negotiations rather than war , don't you ? Who is to say when force is needed ?

Mr. Graham should hold his breath and stomp his feet. It seems to be the GOP's most popular method of "government."

By the way, did he get permission from Grover to do this?
