Tech pros hit Issa for taking Park away from HealthCare.gov

Updated at 8:08 p.m. ET on 11/10/2013

Washington (CNN) - A group of technology experts has a message for Rep. Darrell Issa, the Republican Oversight Committee chairman who last week disregarded the White House’s insistence that U.S. technology chief Todd Park is too busy to testify about his efforts to repair HealthCare.gov.

“Let Todd Work,” the group proclaims on a website launched after Issa issued a subpoena for Park to appear before his panel on Wednesday.

“Now, instead of continuing to fix HealthCare.gov (a mess he did not make), Mr. Park has to spend his hours preparing for his testimony,” declares the website on its homepage, before listing some of Park’s accomplishments.

“Mr. Park is a fantastic civil servant, who cares about making government more effective and accountable, just like Mr. Issa,” the group writes. “We hope that they can work together on solving the policies that enabled HealthCare.gov to fail in the first place. No matter what side of the aisle you sit on, Todd is one of the good guys. Let him do his job.”

A little more than 200 people had signed up to support the website’s cause on Sunday afternoon. The site’s creators are three technology experts with ties to the White House: Clay Johnson and Adam Becker, two former Presidential Innovation fellows, and Michael Aleo, a former White House art director.

"I think Issa's subpoena was caused by a misunderstanding of who Todd Park is, and what his role was and is in this operation," Johnson told CNN.

"What on Earth did he have to do with it in the first place? He's trying to fix it, and to my knowledge trying to clean up somebody else's mess isn't worthy of a subpoena," Johnson continued.

After Issa’s initial request for Park’s testimony, the White House wrote back declaring the chief technology officer was too busy fixing the problem-addled health care portal.

“His testimony needs to be scheduled at a time that is less disruptive to that work,” Donna Pignatelli, the White House’s assistant director for legislative affairs, wrote last week, adding later that “pulling him away … even for a short time at this stage would be highly disruptive and would risk slowing the progress that has been made thus far to fix identified issues with the website.”

Issa, incensed, wrote back on Friday, using his power of subpoena to demand that Park show up before his committee this week.

“Your unwillingness to appear before the committee continues an unfortunate pattern of the current administration when it comes to matters of transparency and Congressional oversight,” Issa wrote in a letter to Park that was released to the media.

I mentioned this last week. Issa is going to handing the perfect alibi for missing their Nov. 30 deadline on a silver platter.

The Feds need to subpoena Issa about his business dealings.

More talking points issued by the White House to supporters trying to deflect from the real issue and CNN dutifully reports it.

The only way the American people can get to the truth is through subpoenas. The Obama administration is expert at dragging their feet and hiding the truth; re: Benghazi, Fast & Furious, the IRS, etc., etc., etc., and now Obamacare.

Obama wants to put out one number that includes all of the people signing up for the FREE Medicaid along with the pitifully low number of people who have signed up and are paying for an Obamacare plan. We want to know the truth so we can see how badly this program is being accepted by Americans who Obama hoodwinked with his false promises of being able to keep your insurance and doctor.

Why do people continue to parrot the lie that repubs don't have any ideas with regards to healthcare. Just do a search and you will find it. I can't say whether the ideas are good or bad because I haven't done enough research but they certainly do have a lot of ideas.
    --------------
If you could tell us how to actually find it, you would. But, you didn't because there are no actual Republican plans out there, just a lot of hot air with no substance or any relation to reality. "We will cut taxes, which creates jobs."

The only official health care reform plan from the Republican Party that have ever seen appears in a blog in John Boehner's official house representative web site, dated June 2009. Be aware that Boehner has two official web sites. He has a special one as Speaker, anda regualr one as a House Representative that every member gets.

The plan posted on Boehner's web site is so costly that they don't even want to talk about it anymore. They were all for it until the "cut, cut, cut" crowd showed up in the House.

On a totally different topic this should give your quote right here should give you an understanding as to why people like me don't buy the whole global warming, errrrrrrrrrrrrrr climate change, argument. Or at least this is why we are highly highly skeptical.

Yeah, that's the standard excuse, an opinion.with no facts to back it up. Actually, the real reason why so many on the right reject the science of climate change is because accepting the idea as fact would also mean that they accept the fact that the Earth is considerably much older than 6000 years. Scientists say the last Ice Age occurred some 100,000 years ago, which simply does not conform to the Book Of Genesis, at all.

    @Data
Wouldn't Mr. Park have unique insight into just how messed up the original site was and wouldn't that then make his testimony quite valuable.
    -------------------–
His testimony would be invaluable once he has completed repairs. I hope he shows up and tells Issa, "I don't know, yet."

Yet without having "done enough research" you've concluded that the ACA is bad, bad, bad. Hmmm.

If he has nothing to do with it, then why the subpoena?

    "Nice try, but we gotcha."

All of you liberals think the country needs an alternative to Obamacare??? How about simply allowing the American people to keep what they had before Obamacare was jammed down our throat? 85% of the American liked the healthcare coverage they had.

Why did your "solution" have to wreck the healthcare of the entire country in order to give people free healthcare through Medicaid? Your "fix" has ended up being total destruction for millions of people. This entire train wreck needs to be repealed and you need to be honest with the American people about what you are trying to do and who is going to pay the price for your grand illusion. Enough of the Obama lies.

Tom, you must definitely get your news from Fox. Are you saying that Issa should go back to the Bush administration and actually have hearings on how many embassies were attacked and explain how all those people were killed during the Bush administration. This is a witch hunt as is almost every none of Issa's committee targets. Even when they find out that there's nothing there, they just keep going for the Fox News Lemmings.

Obama simply refuses to hold people accountable. He is a failed leader that is afraid to hold others responsible for their failures. Not a single person has been held accountable in all of the Obama administrations failures and disasters over the last 5 years. Is it any wonder that all we get are more of them?

Yeah. Let's bring in the members of the fire department one at a time, beginning with the Fire Chief, while they battle the biggest forest fire in history. Do Republicans actually that average Americans are that stupid? We know that the right wing fringe already is. Don't they realize that average Americans are not the right wing fringe, and they are not about to become converts, either?
