Paul: Benghazi should preclude Clinton from presidency

Washington (CNN) - Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky restated his position on Tuesday that the attack on the United States compound in Benghazi–and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s response–should prohibit her from becoming president.

Paul, who has long been outspoken about the terrorist attack, told cadets at The Citadel, a military college in South Carolina, that the commander-in-chief should never be unwilling to send troops to protect the United States’ diplomatic missions.

“Her failure to provide our ambassador and his mission with adequate security should preclude Hillary Clinton from ever holding high office ever again,” he said.

The diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya was attacked by terrorists on September 11, 2012. Four Americans were killed, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stephens.

Since the attack, many Republicans in Congress have called for more investigations into what happened in Benghazi and have faulted Clinton for not quickly sending reinforcements when the compound fell under siege.

Stephens was the first U.S. ambassador killed on duty in 33 years.

Clinton is widely seen as the prohibitive front runner for the 2016 Democratic nomination for president. Paul is someone who has not denied having aspirations of higher office, making his remarks an early attempt to undermine a potential Democratic rival that polls have leading generic Republican challengers.

Earlier this year, shortly after Clinton stepped down from her post at the State Department, Paul leveled similar critiques against her record and future aspirations.

“The person who made that decision should never be in place or a position to make that decision again,” he told CNN in May. “I stand by that.”

During a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing in January, where Clinton testified on Benghazi, Paul was equally critical, telling the then-secretary of state that had he been president at the time, he would have “relieved” her of her post.

“I find it a dereliction of duty, a clear dereliction of duty,” Paul said on Tuesday. “She wants to blame it on somebody else, but it is absolutely her responsibility.”

"Her failure to provide our ambassador and his mission with adequate security should preclude Hillary Clinton from ever holding high office ever again." Paul, you can't even keep the 20 staff members under you from copying from wikipedia.

The guy who was fired from the Washington Post because of his plagerism, and is now writing for Brietbart
should be "precluded" from holding any federal government office, elected or not.
Breitbart is a perfect fit for Rant Paul. Both are pathetic..............

Wearing a tricorn hat, and living in a delusional alternate reality is an automatic disqualiication, Senator. Unabashed plagiarism warrants an automatic ejection, and a lifetime ban from politics.

Every left winger on here doesn't even realize the insane comments they make. They all voted for someone who was caught plagiarizing. It is so comical.

Just like the great Marie who was accusing GWB of playing golf during the Iraq War when he specifically stopped playing golf.

But, hey, go ahead and continue to say things over and over again so that you think yoiu can make them true. As the great George Costanza said, "It's not a lie...if you believe it."

A novel way to rig an election – declare the probable opponent ineligible. It must be on page 3 of the RNC Manual of Stealing Elections, right after having SCOTUS overturn the will of the people and replace it with the will of Scalia.

"Clinton should be banned from presidency due to Benghazi"

LOL @ Paul. "Junior" (George Bush) started a war in Iraq under false pretenses back in 2003. That didn't stop him from getting re-elected in 2004. Hilary Clinton had nothing to do with what happened in Benghazi.

Sounds like Rand is getting a little nervous. This guy should just disappear from the " limelight ".
If Hillary runs, she has it.

Speaking of Benghazi, did anyone see that crap that came from 60 minutes? What a joke!! Where is Issa and Graham? They need to bring that guy in to testify why he lied on 60 minutes, but then again I won't hold my breath. GOP has become a laughing stock.

Rand Paul wants to hold Hillary accountable for Benghazi.

I would like to know about her vote to allow W to invade Iraq.

While she based her decision on lies from W, Condi, Powell, and others, myself and many others saw through the lies, and felt that even supposing the info was true, our country has to have a higher standard before we invade another country. You don't invade a country because they might be a threat to us.

I would like for Hillary to assure us that, as President, she sets a higher standard than the one she exhibited with her vote. As President, she would have much more power than as Senator, and I would like to feel that she now has a higher standard for how that power is used. I would like to hear more from her than: "Well. Bush lied to me."

It's days like today that I love to throw out the "people in glass houses should not caste stones" line.

So, the Vice President Joe Biden. Ya know, the guy you support so strongly? He plagiarized a speech and he also was guilty of plagiarism in law school. Cool, huh?

If the GOP 'strategy' is to keep trying to use the deaths of these brave Americans into a political football and attempt to turn the Benhazi tragedy into a phony scandal, Ms Clinton will win in a 40 state walkover over any GOP nominee.

What is that on his knuckle in the photo... appears to be ink from carbon paper. He stopped copying other people's work right in the middle to give us his unsought opinion which was tripe when he said it the first time at the Senate Hearings and even carries less weight given the fact we now know he hasn't had an original thought of his own since the first time he pee peed on the electric fence.

Every time a TeaBagger says "Benghazi" it is a sending one more voter from the middle to the left. The biggest mistake the conservatives have made recently was to let the loony show out of the box all at once.
