Face of Obamacare feels bullied

(CNN) - She was the face of Obamacare, a Halloween costume and the butt of jokes and attacks across the political spectrum. But she’s also a Colombian émigré named Adrianna.

“I deserve a chance to tell people who I am and not just let everybody else say whatever they want,” the woman identified by ABC News as the so-called "Obamacare girl” told the network on Wednesday.

The mystery of the Obamacare Girl

Asking that her last name be kept private, Adrianna told ABC that she is not a professional model.

“I'm a mother and I'm a wife,” she said.

Nor was she paid for becoming the temporary face of HealthCare.gov, agreeing to model in exchange for free family photographs that could be used the promote the website. The online federal insurance exchange has since been changed and Adrianna’s face is no longer the marquee image.

Adrianna, who says she’s a permanent resident of the United States, had some idea how her image would be used but little concept of the fallout, she said.

“We signed the release that said it was supposedly going to be used for material promoting the healthcare,” she said. “We just didn't know that it was going to have a negative impact.”

The impact, Adrianna said of mockery online and on-air, amounts to bullying. Which is why “I’m here to stand up for myself and defend myself.”

You chose to put your face on one of the most controversial things in recent American history, and you're surprised you're being ridiculed? Not too bright, are you?

She wanted to get involve with politics and Obama. Now, she is involved with Obama and politics. This just shows that she is very very dumb, as all Obama voters are. She should not blame anyone except her own stupidity.

I think it speaks volume of the pettiness and lack of maturity and intellect on the part of conservatives that they are vilifying this woman because her face was on a website. I guess there really is no such thing as rock bottom for the Republican Party.

You choose to ridicule someone for only posing for a picture for a promotion? Not too kind or mature, are you?

When is free think that if it is too good to be true, it probably is. Just signing up for a handout, and you never know what you're going to get, particularly with this administration that uses some smoke and mirrors in delivering the business of government.

LOL This article is BEYOND hilarious.

    1) Someone, who isn't a US citizen is made the face of the law.
    2) This same person willingly signed over their likeness and is upset how it is being used and perceived.
    3) If she is a permanent legal alien then she knows an overwhelming majority of the country do not like the law as it was crafted.
    4) People are making fun of the law and it's implementation NOT her personally.
    5) The Democrats forced this down everyone's throats and now it is everyone else's fault it is failing miserably.

Bk, you must be such a miserable, negative excuse for a human being. Today, I am not even Christian enough to pity you.

It would have been better to have the face of a Marine drill instructor. "You will enroll!"

"....had some idea how her image would be used but little concept of the fallout, she said." – Sounds kind of like the situation Obama is in, or is trying to convince us he is in. He didn't have a concept of the fallout of his mandatory Health Requirements, the cancellations that would result etc..

BK can't read too well.....she didn't chose to be the Face of Obamacare, she signed a release that her pic could be used for print or whatever. She should have asked to stay on it though....because in the next 24 months it will be like having your face on $1,000 bills....... I got a lot better coverage than my old plan and at half the cost. The same thing happened with the roll outs of Romneycare, Medicaid, social security, and now everyone loves and can't live without any of them. The web site will be good as gold soon and then things will start picking up, just like Romneycare did, as 75% signed up at the last minute. 75% of the country wants it to work, so it's not going anywhere.....even with all the sabotage and fighting against it.....it's not going anywhere, The insurance companies better make this work, because the only thing left is to get rid of all them for a single payer system. Insurance companies are a middle man that cost too much to run and they really aren't needed, but keep 33% for taking our money and paying the bills.......like tits on a bull.

So she was just walking down the street when a guy in a trench coat approached her and said "Psst, want to pose for a free family picture and give us the right to post it on the Obamacare webpage"?
Sounds a little fishy to me.

Conservatives and republicans hating a person for no good reason. Seems about right. All conservatives and republicans are bitter, petty people. Shame on all of you.

I would love to be the face on the website, because in 18 moths it will be like having your face on a US $1,000 bill. Give me that job....dang.......

  17. Seriously

I just can't get over these posts... This woman opted to have photo's taken, signed a release form stating her image was to be used in some way... To hear people threaten and vilify this woman/wife/mother is deplorable. She had nothing to do with this – regardless of her or your political views. To somehow like this woman to the debacle of this website rollout is shameful. Have we seriously stooped that low as a society?

    @ Boo
"And as far as the right, they were so against Obamacare, what do they care whether it's a failure or not?"

Now that it's a law and affects everyone....of course the "right" cares whether it's a failure or not.

In a year or two this will be the most popular website in America........ once the insurance companies figure out that they will all be gone for single payer if this doesn't work......
