Obama phones Netanyahu to reaffirm ‘shared goal’ on Iran

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday to discuss the recent bilateral agreement that dials back Iran’s ability to work toward a nuclear weapon. Since the deal was announced on Saturday, Netanyahu has been a harsh critic of the plan.

Josh Earnest, a White House spokesman, said the call was aimed at ensuring Netanyahu knew that the United States “remains completely committed to closely consulting with Israel through this process.”

Sarah Palin on Martin Bashir comments: ‘I move on and I charge forth’

(CNN) – Sarah Palin responded publicly for the first time Sunday on the nasty comments thrown her way by MSNBC host Martin Bashir, who later apologized for saying she deserved degrading punishment.

"Everybody in life takes shots," the former Alaska governor said on "Fox News Sunday." "You have a decision to make when you take a shot. Are you going to become bitter or better? In a case like this, you know, I don't have to accept his words - his vile, evil comments. So they don't have to affect me. I move on and I charge forth."

Lawmakers from both parties urge caution on Iran deal

(CNN) – While President Barack Obama hailed the interim agreement to slow Iran’s nuclear program as an “important first step,” some lawmakers were skeptical about the deal on Sunday, including members of Obama’s own party.

Both Republicans and Democrats were cautious about the agreement’s provision to loosen sanctions against Iran. A few called for another round of sanctions to be passed immediately, while more urged a backup plan that would impose new sanctions in six months if Iran fails to hold up its end of the deal.

Rogers: Iran deal rewards ‘very bad and dangerous behavior’

(CNN) - Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said Sunday the interim deal reached between world powers and Iran this weekend to slow its nuclear program sets a bad precedent.

“We have just rewarded very bad and dangerous behavior,” the Michigan Republican said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” blasting the agreement’s provision that allows Iran to continue to enrich uranium, even though it’s to a lower level.

House lawmakers show bipartisan skepticism of Iran deal

(CNN) - The top Democrat and the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee were both skeptical Sunday of the interim deal reached to slow Iran's nuclear program in exchange for a loosening of sanctions against the country.

Rep. Eliot Engel, D-New York, said on CNN's "State of the Union" he was disappointed Iran will be allowed to continue to enrich uranium while the talks go on for the next six months.

Kerry: Israel is safer under new deal

Updated 10:25 a.m. ET, 11/24/14

(CNN) – Secretary of State John Kerry insisted Sunday that the interim agreement to halt Iran’s nuclear program makes Israel safer - though Israel says the agreement has exactly the opposite effect.

“We believe very strongly that because the Iranian nuclear program is actually set backwards and is actually locked into place in critical places, that that is better for Israel than if you were just continuing to go down the road and they rush towards a nuclear weapon,” Kerry said in an interview that aired Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” - just hours after world powers and Iran reached the historic agreement.

Congressional Republicans slam Iran deal

Updated 10:47 a.m. ET, 11/24/14

Washington (CNN) – Republicans blasted the Obama administration Saturday night after President Barack Obama announced a historic agreement had been reached by Iran and six world powers over Tehran's nuclear program.

Iran nuclear deal: President Barack Obama's legacy moment on Iran

Washington (CNN) - These are troubled times for President Barack Obama.

He's a lame duck president. The latest CNN/ORC poll has his approval rating at 41% - the lowest of his presidency. And the Affordable Care Act, his signature legislation, has been hobbled by the botched and much maligned rollout of the signup website.
