Mike Tyson to Piers Morgan: Obamacare is 'really bad'

(CNN) - He used to be a big supporter of the Affordable Care Act, but Mike Tyson now says Obamacare's suffered a knockout.

"It just really went horrible," the former heavyweight boxing champion of the world told CNN's Piers Morgan in an interview that aired Wednesday evening on "Piers Morgan Live."

"It's really, it's really bad," Tyson added.

The comments appear to be a change of opinion for Tyson, who in an 2012 interview with Morgan applauded President Barack Obama's efforts on health care, adding that the President and Vice President Joe Biden  "give the people in that desperational need, that hope."

The start up of Obamacare over the past two months has been extremely flawed, with major problems plaguing HealthCare.gov, the system's main website for people to sign up for coverage, and with a controversy over insurance policy cancellations due primarily to the new national health law.

Tyson says he still believes in giving health care coverage to the millions of Americans currently without insurance, but added that "as of now it doesn't seem they can get it. I was for it a 100 percent but we just have to come to the reality that it didn't work."

With all due respect to Tyson, he has no clue as to what he's talking about.

I wonder how much they paid him to say that? His opinion, assessment or perspective is akin to a box of flat rocks.

keep in mind now, Piers Morgan was raised a Democratic Socialist and still believes in Socialism as does many of his friends, partners and associates. When you have a specific type of Government and system set into your psyche, the thought of Capitalism is difficult even with an understanding of how it works. The thought of presenting such a mammoth sized program on a national level without testing and perfection only proves that this law (HCA) was signed into effect for political reasons based on ARROGANCE. Any private business that were to achieve this level of error would be fired and then pushed out of business. Shameful and extremely unprofessional.

What's your point? Piers IS an American. As a naturalized citizen, he's as legitimate as you are.

The web site is flawed and needs major repair or replacement. If and when the web site works like it should, Obamacare will be a smashing success for millions of people who are in need. There is nothing wrong with the Obamacare insurance program at all. People will not be denied coverage. People will not die or go broke for lack of good health insurance. People will get preventative care. The verdict is still out. Let's see where things stand six months from now.

We should all be taking advice from a tattooed face guy that has obviously taken to many blows to the head. He should stick to biting the ears off of opponents and leave the thinking to more experienced individuals.

Well since Tyson says it's a bad thing I am going to have to reassess my thoughts on this. Maybe the ACA is not such a bad thing after all.

Well there you have it. Changing the healthcare market in the US to; define minimum coverage, exempt per-existing condition coverage denials, eliminate lifetime limits on coverage, provide subsidies, encourage insurer competition, limit insurance admin expense and profit to 15% of policy cost, allow kids to age 26 to stay on policies, is just like a boxing match. If you get knocked out in the first round then the fight is over.

In the next GOP administration, they can hire him as a policy administration expert. I am sure the right wing bigots and racists who have said anything negative about him will now make him their hero aka Uncle Tom.

Morgan is just catering to the sponsors to keep his job. What do you expect him to say? Mike Tyson speaks exactly what is on his mind. Case closed. Obama is a failure and so are all of the people that support him. The best thing for America is to impeach Obama and everyone under him. Elect a whole new government half the size. Set term limits and no 100K pension for anyone after they leave. Abolish the IRS and implement the Fair Tax. We have to take back our country from the criminal cabal that has bought it through lobbying.
