Obamacare enrollment ramps up in days after website fix

(CNN) – A revamped federal health care website has helped enroll 29,000 Americans in insurance plans over the past several days, a source familiar with the numbers said on Wednesday.

The number is higher than the online enrollments for the entire month of October, and reflects a boost in sign-ups after HealthCare.gov underwent a massive repair job after its initial launch.

"The data is still being scrubbed but looks like we will be 29,000 for enrollment in federal exchange for the first two days since the site improvement deadline at the end of November (midnight Sunday to midnight Monday),” the source said, noting the number reflects people who have successfully selected a plan, but that haven’t yet paid for it.

On Sunday, administration officials announced they had met their deadline for getting HealthCare.gov working for the “vast majority” of users, saying response times and error rates had been slashed while capacity increased.

They also described the weeks-long repair process that involved overhauling the website’s management structure and installing a 24-hour “rapid response” team to address technical issues as they arise.

Those technical issues put a damper on the first month’s enrollment figures for the Affordable Care Act. Just over 106,000 people signed up for Obamacare in October. Fewer than 27,000 Americans selected plans through HealthCare.gov. The rest signed up through state exchanges.

A separate source who was familiar with November’s numbers said earlier this week that 100,000 people had enrolled online in the exchanges last month.

And not a single one of them has actually PAID for ANYTHING! This web site is a total SHAM. The government is going to just send these insurance companies whatever the insurance company thinks they are owed and they will "settle up later". How wonderful that our government is just going to be blindly sending millions, maybe billions, to these companies based on nothing more than their word.

The Obama administration is already blindly throwing billions of our tax dollars at this fiasco because they have totally FAILED. They admit that 30-40% of this joke web site IS NOT IMPLEMENTED. No security, massive holes, bugs that may have left people thinking they have coverage when they do not. This whole thing is totally pathetic. The rest of the world is looking at this and laughing.

their target is 7 million paying people (though no one can pay on the web site) and 9 million on medicaid (taxpayer paid for 'free to them not us' healthcare). many young people will not sign up and pay the tax/fine instead. then watch the cost of the exchange plans skyrocket. of course obama has delayed that knowledge until after the 2014 election. but more likely is that the obama administration will simply throw billions of our tax dollars to their buddies the health insurance companies in order to keep the rates down and keep this disaster from totally collapsing.

Oh my! What are the GOP going to do now. This is there last stand. Its time they went on vacation so they don't have to answer to the American public why they are not doing there job. When milk goes to $8.00 a gallon the first of the year they will not be able to hide from mothers. Everyone knows if mother is not happy no one is happy.

Very important missing statistic in this story: Only 22% of young people ages 18-29 plan to sign up for Obamacare. Now, I know Obamasheep will be tempted to say that's because they are on their parents insurance. But alas, those are UNINSURED young people. And that is the very group Obamacare needs to sign up to stay solvent. This, not the temporary technical glitches, is why Obamacare is destined to fail.

    Discuss.

The epic flood of 29,000 people signed up! Obamacare is now officially an epic SUCCESS! To bad millions have lost their coverage thanks to Obamacare.

The most hilarious of all was the whiney woman on faux noise who claimed "Obamacare" would cover every member of her family except her youngest child. Further research into the matter revealed SHE NEVER INCLUDED THAT CHILD ON HER APPLICATION when she enrolled! How does someone FORGET to include their child? LOL – makes me wonder if the kid really even exists!

Seeing how the article describes the total number as people who haven't yet paid for yet, I would take that to mean private insurance, not Medicaid. I applaud the young conservative imbeciles that are not signing up as a protest. Just make sure that they pay their fines to the IRS. Make sure they pay it for next year and for the few years as the fine grows and grows.

    Fair is Fair

"Anyone "choosing" to pay the fine and remain uninsured should be required to pay CASH IN FULL upon showing up at the ER for the treatment of ANYTHING! If they can't pay, they turned away and not allowed to stick the rest of us with their tab."

"The 28% who decide not get insurance should every right not to get it. But, if during the year they get sick and show up at a hospital, they should either be thrown out on their ear and denied service or forced to pay 100% of the bill due, regardless of if they have to sell their house or take away their kids college money, or go hungry."

"Let's hope is a BIG fine. And BTW, if they show up in an emergency room, let's hope hospitals aren't going to care for them before they show their wallets (or sign over their houses). "

    Wow. Such compassionate liberalism.

Can't debate the FACTS that I have posted? Why is that? Prove me wrong. Fact is you cannot.

I post the truth, AKA reality, not some BS Obama propaganda line that is fed to me. Obama and his failure machine has had over 3 years to get this done, and have failed miserably. But the web site is just the easy part and they totally botched it and continue to botch it and keep the same people in place that botched it.

Democrats and leftists had better be prepared for what awaits them in 2014 & 2016. Your Grand Delusion is hurting millions of Americans and it is just starting. The worse is yet to come, according to the Obama administration that predicts that 30-120 million Americans could lose their employer based healthcare plans, just as 5 million have already lost theirs in the private market.

The American people simply will not tolerate the destruction and total incompetence of the far left Democrat Party any longer. You have lied and deceived us for the last time.

29,000 enrolled in the exchange – that doesn't mean they purchased insurance. If percentages are similar to those in November, that means about 5,000 more people actually bought healthcare coverage. That is embarrassing. I'll bet that less than 5% of those who have enrolled are under the age of 40

You don't know that for a fact. Nobody knows the future.

This is the problem with the right wing. They think that ideological musings are actual facts. They believe that lying is an expression of freedom of speech, which they call messaging, BTW. They believe everything that they hear on the radio, especailly when it comes from a right wing comedian. They are so paranoid that they are fearful of expressing themselves in unapproved manners. Worst of all, they tend to forget that people remember what conservatives say.

    Wrong.

On 11/19/2013 I enrolled in a Humana plan on Healthcare.gov. The site verified my citizenship, calculated my subsidy and assigned a Humana policy number to me.

All the information was successfully sent via the "back door" information because Humana has the amount of the subsidy onsite and now has my portion of the premium (200.94 to be exact) in the coffers of Humana. There was no "distorted information" to be corrected either.

What they do not have, is the actual subsidy from the IRS, why? The private sector company does not have a feed coded yet to accept the subsidy, per the Humana CSR which I had to contact, because their payment link did not work either.

P.S. I keep the same doctor I had under the old plan as well just in case you were going to spout that GOP talking point as well.

Sorry, you are entitled to your opinion, but not your own set of facts.

You need to get out of the GOP bubble more and join us out here in the parallel universe, we call reality!
