Obama to talk Obamacare with young Americans

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama on Wednesday gets the chance to address younger Americans, a key demographic for the success of the health care exchanges set up under his signature reforms.

In remarks at a White House Youth Summit, Obama was expected to tout the benefits of the 2010 Affordable Care Act for young people, who often don't think they need health insurance.

CNN Poll: Support for stricter gun control fades

Washington (CNN) - As memories fade from last December's horrific school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, a new national poll indicates that support for stricter gun control laws appears to be fading, too.

According to a new CNN/ORC International survey, 49% of Americans say they support stricter gun control laws, with 50% opposed. The 49% support is down six percentage points from the 55% who said they backed stricter gun control in CNN polling from January, just a few weeks after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where a lone gunman killed 20 young students and six adults before killing himself, in one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history.

Obamacare enrollment ramps up in days after website fix

(CNN) – A revamped federal health care website has helped enroll 29,000 Americans in insurance plans over the past several days, a source familiar with the numbers said on Wednesday.

The number is higher than the online enrollments for the entire month of October, and reflects a boost in sign-ups after HealthCare.gov underwent a massive repair job after its initial launch.

Obama says wage and income gap eroding American dream

Updated 1:41 p.m. ET, 12/4/2013

Washington (CNN) – The growing gap between rich and poor Americans is threatening the ideals the country was founded upon, President Barack Obama said in remarks Wednesday that appeared to signal a leftward turn in his economic agenda.

Making sure that the U.S. economy works for every working American is "the defining challenge of our time," Obama said in a speech at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank. He later said the "dangerous and growing" income and opportunity gap is jeopardizing the notion that if people work hard, they can get ahead.

Poll: Quarter of uninsured say they'll pay Obamacare fine

(CNN) - More than one in four Americans who lack health insurance say they're more likely to pay a government fine for not having coverage rather than sign up for insurance, according to a new national poll.

A Gallup survey indicates that 63% of Americans who currently don't have coverage say they'll sign up, as required by the Affordable Care Act. But 28% say they're more likely to pay the fine mandated by Obamacare. That 28% figure is little changed over the last month, as the clock ticks towards the March 31, 2014, deadline for having health insurance.
