Obamacare: You're not insured until you pay

New York (CNNMoney) – Just because you've picked an Obamacare insurance policy doesn't mean you've got coverage.

If you want to be insured come Jan. 1, you have to pay your first month's premium by your insurer's due date, often Dec. 31.

This has always been the case. Why would it be different now?

Get ready to fork out that cash. As far as those deductions, you won`t see those until you file your 2014 tax return. A lot of these misinformed folks who thought the ACA was a great deal got another thing coming.

Yes Nanny State lemmings, this is how it works in the real world, outside the government Nanny State bubble. One does not own a product or receive a service with out payment. It is scary/riduculous that this is even a concern. Too many people in this country have lost touch with reality.

But.........you aren't likely to get that bill, before January, of course.

This is just another point of contention, in the train wreck.

You're not covered until you pay for it. Shouldn't that be obvious?

how dumb is obamadumb??? IT AIN'T A DEAL UNTIL MONEY EXCHANGES HANDS??? and nobody can because the site is so screwed up-a trillion dollar site that the right people WHO LIVE IN THIS COUNTRY INSTEAD OF CANADA could have done for $10,000,000???? there is not way to pay on the site so nobody has enrolled–NOT ONE PERSON. So obama is controlling this how??? BY TELLING THE INSURANCE COMPANIES TO JUST BILL THE GOVERNMENT WHAT THEY THINK THEY HAVE COMING AND THEY WILL GET THEIR MONEY-CALLED A BAIL OUT FOR THE SCREW UP. tHE KNEW MOTTO IS "TRUST ME". a "man" who lied to us 37 times just on obama care-then Libya was a video-and everything else NOBODY TOLD ME. Reid is not making his staff take obamacare--in texas we call that a clue.

OMG. What moron would think they are covered if they haven't paid their premium. You don't have car insurance, life insurance or any other kind of insurance until you pay the first payment. Only very foolish people would think they are covered just because they signed up.

Just drop the payments, and deductions–all will flock on this one. Insurance companies see real music, government gets money.

Come on negative media we are living with and not easy to throw them away. Everybody knows when you pick up something whether its in a Grossery, you are obliged to pay first before you carry along the stuff with you. Instead of being negative, I wish you could have made it easier and write: Make sure that you pay first in order to get the stuff you have ordered". Media, you are not helping at all. Do you know how many people are suffering of depression? Why can't you make it easier for them instead of increased it. Is this what you are there for? If that is the case, no one will opt to have you around and make us sicker and sicker. Will you please learn how to communicate with people in a polite and lovely manner?

PSA: if you select a Humana plan, the premium is due by 12/20/2013, not the 31st per Humana CSR that took my share of the new monthly premium.

You have until December 31 to pay premiums on your plan, yet Republicans complain that people have not paid for their plans. For the poor, Republicans complain that they are not paying for insurance. For the young and healthy, Republicans complain that they will pay more for real insurance. For the rich, Republicans complain that they don't get a tax cut. For the rest of the people, Republicans complain about abortion, illegal immigration, and gay marriage. If you don't care about these issues, Republicans don't know that you exist.

So much for the fallacy of the 'free stuff' the righties keep crying about.
In fact, I saw an interview with a republicant (he said 'Not anymore' though) who went on the website, saw 24 offers from different PRIVATE companies all vying for his business. He called it a 'free market paradise' and said it was 'about as far from socialism as you can get'.

Man, Churchhill was right.... 'A lie will make it halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on it's pants'.

It's all over, but the lying, folks... all over but the lying.
