Dems to Obama: Suspend deportations

Washington (CNN) – While immigration reform is stalled in Congress, some members are calling on President Barack Obama to take the matter into his own hands, urging him to suspend deportations of undocumented immigrants.

Thirty Democratic members of Congress wrote in a letter that he has the authority to pause deportations of undocumented immigrants, urging "the sensible and moral step of stopping deportations."

KY Gov: McConnell's Obamacare criticism will hurt him

(CNN) – Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell's criticism of the Affordable Care Act may come back to haunt him in the next year's midterm race, according to Steve Beshear, the Democratic governor of McConnell's home state of Kentucky.

"I have a U.S. Senator who keeps saying Kentuckians don't want this. Well, the facts don't prove that out," the Governor said at Thursday's Democratic House Leaders caucus meeting on Obamacare.

Washington (CNN) - A group of evangelicals in favor of passing immigration reform have a message for House Speaker John Boehner: "We're praying for you."

In new ads, Evangelical Immigration Table–group that has been behind immigration reform on Capitol Hill–asks people to pray for Boehner and House Republican leadership on immigration reform and urge those leaders to listen to their prayers.

First on CNN: Outside group defends vulnerable Democratic Senator

(CNN) - A group supporting Democratic senators and Senate candidates says it's going up with a new television commercial defending Sen. Kay Hagan of North Carolina, who's considered vulnerable as she runs for re-election next year.

The theme of the Senate Majority PAC's 30-second spot is that Hagan is fighting to make health care more affordable and accessible to North Carolina voters.

Most Americans predict more gridlock in 2014

Washington (CNN) - When it comes to getting things done in the nation's capital, a new poll suggests Americans expect more of the same gridlock in 2014.

The first year of President Barack Obama's second term in office included the first federal government shutdown in nearly two decades and little legislative accomplishments by Congress.

Shocking new gun control ad released around Newtown anniversary

(CNN) - Ten days before the first anniversary of the Newtown elementary school massacre, two gun control groups released a chilling new television ad that portrays a potential school shooting.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns–the group backed by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg–and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense partnered up to produce the commercial, which comes 30-second and 60-second versions.

Obamacare: You're not insured until you pay

New York (CNNMoney) – Just because you've picked an Obamacare insurance policy doesn't mean you've got coverage.

If you want to be insured come Jan. 1, you have to pay your first month's premium by your insurer's due date, often Dec. 31.
