Senator's chief of staff arrested on child porn-related charges, authorities say

Updated 7:23 p.m., 12/11/13

(CNN) - U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander’s chief of staff was arrested on Wednesday on child pornography related charges, federal prosecutors said.

Jesse Ryan Loskarn, 35, was held pending a planned hearing on Thursday in federal court in Washington, according to a Justice Department statement.

"I am stunned, surprised and disappointed by what I have learned," Alexander, a Tennessee Republican, said in a statement earlier in the day, noting that his office is cooperating in the investigation.

Loskarn’s arrest by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service
was based on probable cause for possession and distribution of child pornography, the Justice Department said.

He was replaced in Alexander’s office.

No other details about the case were available.

Funny...Democrats don't advocate moral values so it's okay for them to engage in all sorts of perversions (Wiener, Frank, etc.). But since Republicans do then it is worst for them to engage in a small fraction of the perversions that Dems engage in. That would make sense if hypocrisy were the only moral evil in the universe...but it's not.

I must say...I don't care what party you are in...this isn't a party situation. This is an individual that may be exploiting children. There are individuals within all political parties that do this and many other deplorable acts. this issue is about an individual that is under investigation...it's not the party or the Senator...but an individual.

OK die hard Liberal here, but innocent until proven guilty isn't just a phrase. If you want to suspend him go ahead, but you should pay him at least. I won't bother to point out he's a republican.

both parties like to tell people how to live their lives, they just focus on different aspects of people's lives.

The tragedy, and the eye opener here is that a political party that wants more laws dictating sexual behavior between consenting adults is so against "regulation" of the kiddie porn trade. Now we see more evidence. This behavior is much more serious and gross than Clinton and Lewinsky that we need a full congressional investigation.

And what do you say when it is a Democrat that is charged or arrested? Do you say, well we expect that because they have no moral vaules? You are all cracking jokes on republicans like they are the only ones who are guilty of something like this....MAYBE this has nothing to do with politics. Maybe this is just some sick pervert. Most of you have no shame, but you SHOULD!

Keep the guy away from day care centers (wonder if he's anti-gay stalwart?).....

I doubt FOX will even air this story. Chief of staff is as inner circle as you get.

YoHi60 made a lame attempt at humor: "It's an Obama distraction from the ACA." Well...we certainly know that the right wingers are just as immoral as the rest of everybody now, don't we...that is unless you visit Faux News where you can't find this story anywhere.

Remember the last time Progressives condemned a 'not-guilty man' (G. Zimmerman)? Neo-liberals - Please get all the facts before you condemn another human being, it will make you look more liberal!
