Senator's chief of staff arrested on child porn-related charges, authorities say

Updated 7:23 p.m., 12/11/13

(CNN) - U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander’s chief of staff was arrested on Wednesday on child pornography related charges, federal prosecutors said.

Jesse Ryan Loskarn, 35, was held pending a planned hearing on Thursday in federal court in Washington, according to a Justice Department statement.

"I am stunned, surprised and disappointed by what I have learned," Alexander, a Tennessee Republican, said in a statement earlier in the day, noting that his office is cooperating in the investigation.

Loskarn’s arrest by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service
was based on probable cause for possession and distribution of child pornography, the Justice Department said.

He was replaced in Alexander’s office.

No other details about the case were available.

I wonder if he'll get his job back and backpay if the allegations turn out to have been false.

Ah, he hasn't been convicted of anything yet. Remember the presumption of innocence Senator?

These search warrants are often based on little more than an IP address trace which can, and has, led to mistakes; particularly when people fail to adequately secure their wireless routers. I have personally handled cases where my client, the guilty party, was not the target of the first search warrant.

OMG – LOL – well CNN, I've said this over & over – they have to be the most contradictory party & people that I've ever heard of or seen in my life.....LOL – they all do stupid stuff / silly things, embarrassing things, saying remarks that they wish they never said / and the list goes on.... like that mayor in Canada, for instance....it's pitiful....it's not just their "under studies" that does this, they do it too....The only thing is : When the Democrats in high office does this stuff, they admit they did the wrong thing....but the republicans, they do it, and then rail against everyone that does inappropriate behavior....republicans are nothing short of "hypocritical" & "contradictory" most of the time....

more like Typical politician. The 1% elite super rich ruling class of the Democrats and Republicans are used to abusing people any way they can. They are Millionaires thanks to ripping off you and me. Do you honestly believe EITHER party has OUR best interests in mind, especially when lobbyists pay them to do as they wish. Do you really think our vote matters? They vote their own payraises in in the middle of the night, on a holiday, while keeping minimum wage at well below poverty levels.

Both parties are dinosaurs, hopefully ones soon to be extinct with the help of AWARE American people. Wake up! our politicians have been long since bought and sold by lobbyists, special interests and banks. They and their bankster buddies on wallstreet dont care how many of us they abuse.

It used to be crooks worse masks and stalked alleyways throughout the night. Now they wear suits and ties, speak eloquently and frequent the marble halls of Washington as they rob us blind in broad daylight.

Lock up sexual and violent predators for life in a separate prison system and make room by freeing all non-violent drug offenders...and legalize pot!

I find it strange to associate this behavior with any political party, just as we know and understand that a subset of Catholic priests are not the only group who abuse altar boys.

Now I am just wondering if a poll could be taken to learn the political affiliation of the majority of workers in the adult film industry, which of course is not related to child pornography... or is it?
