Poll: Obama loses large lead over GOP on key issues

Washington (CNN) - Talk about a turnaround.

According to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, 45% of Americans say they trust Republicans to do a better job handling the economy, with 41% saying they have more trust in President Barack Obama.

Bipartisan push for Yes to join Rock and Roll Hall of Fame falls short

(CNN) - A bipartisan group of political operatives leading a grassroots movement to induct pioneering British rock group Yes into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has failed.

Republican political operative John Brabender joined forces in August with Democratic strategist Tad Devine and other operatives spanning the political spectrum to create the "Voices for Yes" campaign, aimed at inducting the beloved group into the celebrated club.

Budget compromise clears Senate procedural hurdle

Washington (CNN) - A federal budget compromise that already passed the U.S. House cleared a key procedural hurdle Tuesday in the Senate, increasing the likelihood it will win final congressional approval this week.

President Barack Obama has signaled his support for the plan worked out by the budget committee leaders in each chamber that would guide government spending into 2015 to defuse the chances of another shutdown such as the one that took place in October.

2016 Poll: Christie edges out Clinton in Iowa

(CNN) - It's arguably the most important state in the race for the White House.

And a new poll suggests that if the 2016 presidential election were held today, Republican Chris Christie would narrowly top Democrat Hillary Clinton in the crucial swing state of Iowa.

Report: Chinese hackers attacked crucial government election website

Washington (CNN) - Chinese hackers tapped into the Federal Election Commission's website during the federal government shutdown in October, a report released Tuesday by an investigative news organization says.

The report from the Center for Public Integrity, one of the country's oldest and largest nonpartisan, nonprofit investigative news organizations, indicates that hackers crashed the FEC's computer systems, which compiles federal election campaign finance information like contributions to parties and candidates, and how those billions of dollars are spent in each election by candidates, political parties, and independent groups such as political action committees.
