Huckabee puts chances of a 2016 run at 50-50, wades into 'Duck Dynasty' controversy

(CNN) – Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said Sunday there's about a 50-50 chance he'll run for president again in 2016.

The former Arkansas governor said he would make a final decision after next year's midterm elections.

"I would say maybe at this point it is 50-50. I don't know. I don't know that I can put a percentage on it," Huckabee said on "Fox News Sunday."

"It would be a decision of the heart," he said "I've tried to be honest in all my evaluations, not only back in 2011, but even now, so when people ask me, ’Are you open to the possibilities?’ the honest answer is yes."

The 2008 presidential candidate opted out of running this past presidential cycle but in recent interviews has left the door open to another bid for the White House.

In recent weeks, Huckabee has met with groups from the politically important early voting states of Iowa and South Carolina. He told the Washington Post that groups he hadn't received support from in the past are encouraging him to launch another campaign, though Sunday he denied intentionally planting ideas of a future presidential run.

Huckabee, a pastor, also weighed in on controversial comments by “Duck Dynasty” TV star Phil Robertson in an interview with GQ magazine about same-sex marriage, saying that homosexuality is as much of a sin as lust.

"I think it's come to a point in our culture where political correctness has made it so if you want to take a point of view that is traditional, that holds to a steadfast, old-fashioned biblical, Christian values - which are also, by the way, values of traditional Judaism and even Islam - and somehow you're just supposed to shut up and keep that to yourself," he said, noting President Barack Obama's changed in position on the issue.

Huckabee pointed to a "new level of bullying on the part of these militant activist groups,” as reason for Robertson's suspension by A&E, referring to groups like the Human Rights Campaign, which urged the network to suspend the star.

But Huckabee conceded that Robertson's comments would have been "more appropriate for the duck woods than it would be for the pages of a major news magazine."

Even a pastor act as a hypocrite! He backs the right of a person to quote the Bible as a reason for chastising another but does not follow the passages before or after the ones they quote.. Christ- the reason for Christianity, told us not to judge others and to treat them as we wanted to be treated. Obviously Phil and Mike must want to be put down for their lifestyles.

Ahhh... The 2016 Clown Car starts to fill again...

Come on in "Silly Sarah" Palin, "Oops"Perry, "The Newt" Gingrich, "Coconut" Rubio, "Comb-over" Trump, "Lubricant" Santorum, "Lyin' Ryan, and "Green-Eggs" Cruz! We've got lots of room for the whole, radical, bigoted, narrow-minded, Bible-thumping cluster of potential losers. Why not expand to include Limbaugh, Becke, Coulter, and Hannity? We could have a Clown Bus!

I don't know; if they're changing the primary rules to make sure less fringe candidates make dumb statements, Huckabee's inclusion would not add much to the race.

I just want to say one thing about this comment Huckabee has made. "It would be a decision of the heart," he said "I've tried to be honest in all my evaluations, not only back in 2011, but even now, so when people ask me, ’Are you open to the possibilities?’ the honest answer is yes.". For one thing, there is no way this extremist has a heart. I do wish for him to run for POTUS, the Comedians need more material, I feel that Perry, Ole 999, Bachmann and Palin, won't be in the mix, and these were some that have been giving Comedians their material. What might just save the Comedians jobs, I think we can count on another Bush abortion running (Jeb)...LOL

Yes absolutely he is way smarter than Santorum and Palin which of course is a very low bar. And he is way better looking than Ted Cruz, but then who isn't. And most importantly he along with the other three will whip the crazies to a frenzy and force the eventual nominee into positions he will never be able to walk back so he could possibly have a chance of winning in a still mostly sane country. So why not.

The Constitution gives US freedom of speech, religion etc... NOWHERE does it state "ANY" laws passed MUST follow Christian belief systems (nor any religion). Laws are passed based on the Constitution's foundations of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to ALL (also largely on "evolving" public needs). These religious groups need to understand this: If they want public office, they need to keep religious beliefs out of their pulpits. It would also help if they would ask a simple question: "What if we're (religious followers) wrong" and understand they are tasking the lives and intelligence of realistic, progressive citizens (BTW – a majority). Just saying...

Consider the field: Christie was the successful lobbyist who made Bernie Madoff's swindle possible. Hundred of people lost their life's savings because of this bully. That is why he was not Romney's VP pick. Ron Paul supports the Tea Party Traitor Edward Snowden. Rand Paul admits lying to his fellow medical school students so he could do better than they in a medical school exam. He called it "misinformation" and was proud of it. Both Rubio and Cruz lied about their fathers escaping Castro's Communist Cuba. Both fathers left Cuba while Batista was in power, and Cruz's father is actually on record as admitting he fought for Castro before he dererted and BRIBED his way out of Cuba. Paul Ryan's economic policies have been called by Pope Francis, " greedy naive and not working" Also, the self styled "catholic" Ryan required his Congressional interns to Read books by the materialistic atheist Ayn Rand, who directed that dollar signs rather than crosses be on her funeral flowers.
If I am correct, Huckabee is a Fundamentalist Christian who supports the view of the Solar system found in Genesis. That is, that the Earth is flat and the center of the Solar System with the sun, moon and stars moving around it. One may consequently assume he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. At first glance, however , he seems to be a better person than any of the other Republicans lusting after being President. However the line between Church and State could disappear under a President Huckabee.

Hate is not a Biblical and Christian tradition! if you think it is, you have no idea what Jesus was trying to teach you. Hate is a human failing passed down from parents to children and it's a form of child abuse. Real Christians, the ones who actually get Jesus's teachings, know better. if God judged anyone, i'm sure you would be judged far harsher for who you hate than for who you love.

Go for it Huck and bring Santorum out to help keep the GOP/TEA entertaining as a comedy act. You guys could do a tap dance and song depicting how happy the blacks were before equal rights laws were passed. You can even ride in the front of the bus, like the good old days.

“9Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Cor. 6:9-11)(NKJV)
