Sign-ups surge ahead of Obamacare deadline

(CNNMoney) - Eager to get health insurance starting Jan. 1, Americans flocked to state and federal Obamacare exchanges Monday to sign up for policies.

The federal exchange site, healthcare.gov, saw nearly 2 million page views and the call center received more than 250,000 calls, officials said. It was a record traffic day that left some consumers stuck in an electronic line on the website or on hold for long periods on the phone.

I wonder if the RWNJs are waking up to the fact that they are on the wrong side of history again. Over a million jobs will be created in the health care industry due to ACA. Makes me wish that Cruz and the repubs had not shut down government at a cost of over $24 billion in order to defund the ACA.

Jeff – You mentioned the republican play book, but did you know that guns were also lost in the Bush operation, "wide receiver?"

That increase could be because the PCIP plan of the ACA is mailing threatening letters offering one-month coverage to avoid gaps in coverage. Got one myself; almost called until I read the fine print, as usual. Out of pockets now include 30% of all medical and rxn which could run much higher than even the advertised 5-6K. Premiums at over 5k annually. They spent alot on the brochure, which is to be expected of the theft from the left, but no cigar.

No, I didn't, thanks for the info. I'm sure Faux "News" kept that tidbit out of the spot light!

Ora – as a vet you should know better. Also, as a vet, I don't think you will be refused care at the VA hospital, so you should still have the same care.

After the right wingnuts wasted $800 million attacking the ACA, the republicans wasting $24 billion to shut down the government, and the non stop attack 24/7 by Fox media, it looks like the RWNJs are turning back to their Benghazi lies. It is sad that they have nothing but lies on their side.

Yikes! Will the lunatic claims and lies from the lefties EVER end?!! Obamacare gives incentives to employers to stay below 50 employees and hours per week below 30. Obamacare is not only a health system destroyer, it is a jobs destroyer as well.

I believe you are incorrect, but the case still deals with guns purchased legally in Arizona by straw buyers who then passed them off to cartel members- doesn't that signify a problem as much with the liberal gun laws in AZ as anything else?

@smith: "Tampa Tim- Sorry timmy, only guns not tracked were operation fast and furious."

Actually, a total of about 450 guns were sold with the intent of tracking them during the operation of Wide Receiver (these included AR-15s, semi-automatic AK-pattern rifles and Colt .38s). The majority of the guns were eventually lost as they moved into Mexico.

The gunwalking operations were started in 2006 under GW. BTW, under the Bush Administration Dept. of Justice, no arrests or indictments were made as a result of Wide Receiver.

Contrast this to President Obama, whose DOJ reviewed Wide Receiver and found that guns had been allowed into the hands of suspected gun traffickers. Indictments began in 2010 and as of October 4, 2011, nine people have been charged with making false statements in acquisition of firearms and illicit transfer, shipment or delivery of firearms. As of November 2011, charges against one defendant had been dropped; five of them had pled guilty, and one had been sentenced to one year and one day in prison. Two of them remained fugitives.

Good news indeed. I would urge Dems to remain cool. ACA will make you all proud. I would suggest, the signing up could be prolonged until Dec. 31, as I know there might be some who won't be able to meet the deadline of today. The aim is not to meet the deadline, the aim to get as many people as possible who really need to be assisted through ACA.
