Obamas: A merrier Christmas for the troops

(CNN) – President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama celebrated Christmas in the President’s weekly address Wednesday, taking time in particular to thank the men and women of the U.S. military.

“For many of our troops and newest veterans, this might be the first time in years that they’ve been with their families on Christmas,” the President said. “In fact, with the Iraq war over and the transition in Afghanistan, fewer of our men and women in uniform are deployed in harm’s way than at any time in the last decade.”

The Obamas wished everyone happy holidays and called on Americans to help others, both the troops and their neighbors.

“It’s our turn to step up and show our gratitude for the military families who have given us so much,” Michelle Obama said.

“Again and again, we have been overwhelmed by the response we’ve gotten as folks from across the country have found new ways to give back to these families through their schools, businesses, and houses of worship.”

Helping others, the President said, “is a chance to celebrate the birth of Christ and live out what he taught us – to love our neighbors as we would ourselves; to feed the hungry and look after the sick; to be our brother’s keeper and our sister’s keeper,” Obama said.

“For all of us as Americans, regardless of our faith, those are values that can drive us to be better parents and friends, better neighbors and better citizens.”

A reading from the right wingnut hate machine : And a decree came down from the Koch brothers and Rupert Murdoch that no one should be enrolled in the ACA. "We will spend over a billion dollars to make sure all Americans violate the law of the land," declared the billionaires. "In the event that people ignore our 24/7 attack, we will then focus on other lies like fast and furious and Benghazi." No needy person shall be helped in the name of Christianity. Amen.

To bad it didn't cost the government we could use the savings but the Democrats forgot to tell you is how much over they keep spending everyday to make sure their voting base gets their free goods don't worry about the people that work for a living.

I work for the taxes I pay 5 months out of the year thanks to their overspending and the have the guts so say we cost the government 24 billion don't forget every government will get paid for their free vacations on the tax payers.

Get a life Tampa Tim and see what it really is overspending by the left and the right tries to stop it.

Hope the people will remember who is overspending and who is trying to get them to stop.

By the way Obama the dictator continues to write his own laws without Congress approval because his stupid programs still don't work.

ED – You win the most outrageous post of the day. Republican programs have led to well over two thirds of our national debt. Unfunded wars, unnecessary tax cuts, unfunded drug programs, TARP, government shutdowns are examples of republican fiscal conservatism? Republicans gave us our first Great Depression and the Great Recession of 2008. As for taxes, I also pay substantially, but as a working man, I know I received a tax break due to the stimulus.

The only thing passed in the house other than the budget joke, was 42 attacks on women's reproductive rights and 45 attempts to repeal the ACA. Not much of a political asset for goopers.
