Caught on video: Snoop Dogg and the secretary of state

A surreal video surfaced on social media Thursday in which rapper Snoop Dogg and Secretary of State John Kerry fist-bump and talk hip-hop at the White House. Seriously.

Snoop tweeted a link to the video posted on his Instragram account Thursday afternoon. “@SnoopDogg “Boss life. me n john kerry at d white house !!! #reincarnated #khc”

The candid moment appears to have been captured on a cell phone the day of the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington. Snoop Dogg was invited to perform a tribute that evening for jazz legend Herbie Hancock. The “Snoop and the Secretary video” appears to have been shot at reception held at the White House.

In the vertical cell phone video, Snoop Dogg and Secretary Kerry appear to be rapping about the musical influence of Herbie Hancock. The audio is low, but you can hear Snoop say “He invented hip-hop, that’s why it only makes sense.”

Kerry and Snoop Dogg then laugh and fist-pound it out. Kerry can be heard saying, “You gave me a good pound.”

The Instagram video has now received almost 24,000 likes.

The State Department official Twitter account retweeted the video, with what appeared to be a message from Kerry himself, complete with his initials JK.

“@StateDept Between us we've sold 30 million-JK @SnoopDogg: "Boss life. me n john kerry at d white house !!! #reincarnated #khc”

The 36th Annual Kennedy Center Honors Ceremony was held the evening of December 8 and will air Sunday night at 9 p.m. on CBS.

This will make nice cannon fodder for the right wing conspiracy theorists. It will just make them seem all the more insane. I can hear them now, reviving their "gangsta prezident" roars.

The reinvention of Snoop is just as bad as the one of
Yasser Arafat. John Kerry looks absolutely stupid
    rubbing elbows with him.

ooh oohh, CNN giving those rabid right wingers ammunition for political football. they have taken everything and call it a earth ending disaster. i have been lessening to the repubs for the past 5 years, and all i hear is doom doom doom. they have tried everything in the books to destroy consumer confidence, and still get rewarded. they haven't done a thing in the past 5 year for the american people, yet these gullible Americans reward them. it is sickening to see this crap unfold day after day after day. the american people is ungrateful as they reward the ones that tries to damage them and our economy, and drags the folks that sacrifice to bring them help. the repubs shout that trickle down economics is the best, yet the rich is richer than anytime in history, yet they claim that they dont feel any tricked on. they repubs shouts that the privatize every government program is the best way to go, well Obama followed that crap, and privatized obamacare, by taking it out of the government and put it into private insurance hands. yet the repubs scream that privatization is the worst thing. i wonder if they are still planning on privatizing medicare, social security, and medicaid.

I guess this is news because it happened in the White House. Otherwise, I consider this something for the tabloids or non political news.

Remember when FOX News said the fist-bump was the sign that people were terrorists- then called the President and first lady just that? Why is this even news (beyond the fact that even the GOP might now get the fist-bump is a form of greeting)? So the Secretary of State speaks with Snoop Dogg- Bush took advice from U-2's Bono…

    Get real people.

His name is Snoop Lion now. Better yet, since this is supposed to be journalism, how about using his real name: Calvin Broadus.

Nah. Cut 'em some slack. The political news cycle is moving like a snail for three weeks. The only interesting political stories out there ARE the manufactured and the overblown.
