Senator: 'Goal is to get this young man home'

(CNN) – Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minnesota, bemoaned the United Arab Emirates for taking pride in being more open to the West yet detaining an American over a parody video.

"They have a major NYU campus there, many American universities. They've got Google and Facebook offices. They're having the Rolling Stones come in February," she said on CNN's "New Day." "I figure if Mick Jagger can play Abu Dhabi, this guy shouldn't be in jail for putting a video up."

Shezanne Cassim, has been imprisoned since April, his family says, for posting what was intended to be a funny video on the Internet.

The video in question is a 19-minute short that pokes fun at a clique of Dubai teens who are influenced by hip-hop culture.

He was accused of defaming the UAE's image abroad, according to The National, the country's main English-language newspaper.

Why do these guys go to Emirates, get into trouble with their laws? Can't they obey laws? Pathetic. USA needs to have strict immigration laws, implementation too.

Americans looking to promote Christianity as a State religion, watch out. This is what happens when government is entwined with religion. People get arrested for religious crimes.

That is what the founders of this country left Europe to escape!!!

Sounds to me like conservative minds being unable to understand humor and satire is universal, just like that accent gay men have.

Sounds to me like Mick Jagger had better tone down his dance moves and facial expressions for their UAE shows.

What he did was expose some wealthy royal family member of trying to look like Kanye West.

I can't wait to see all those new skyscrapers tagged by young wealthy graffiti artist , welcome to the hood bro Sheikh !

He will be deported , a royal pardon on His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum birthday.

Why would any free thinking, freedom loving artist with a sense of humor get in trouble in UAE? They have no sense of humor. Period.

IA – Paranoid and delusional are two words that appear to be well beyond your range of comprehension. However, no one in their right mind would ever turn to a bagger for any assistance, but thanks for the offer.

Obama is no better. Why isn't she trying to get the guy out of jail that made the video Obama lied about causing the Benghazi attack?

So far he is the only person they have persecuted (not prosecuted).

And, guess what? There were a number of homes that suffered break-ins following the publishing of the addresses, but no direct link could ever be established. Some claims were suspect, too."

So I finally found an article about what you're talking about. So it was ONE break in. One. There was no proof it was attributable to the article that gave out the names. You are making that assumption. You alone. You pass off as fact something that you feel is correct but have no evidence nor proof to support your claim. You, my friend, are just simply not telling the truth. You are severely exaggerating and taking out of context to try to support your point.

Tell that to little tom, the one that posts for the right wing. That 'man' can't read past the first sentence. You're smart not to defend him. I have no paymasters, BTW. Go argue that nonsense with someone who does.

Senator wants refund for what? All companies have unfortunate situations which they should be asked to try
to improve, but should not be asked to pay cash for nothing.

I see, but it's okay for consumers to pay cash for nothing.
Consumers should be expected to pay for services not rendered. Got it.
