2014: The year of the blame game in Washington

Washington (CNN) – For President Barack Obama and Congress, 2014 will be the year of the blame game.

Congressional elections in November mean that every issue gets framed by politicians and pundits in the context of who won or lost as Republicans and Democrats vie for control of the U.S. House and Senate.

Nothing wrong with Pres.Obama. Problem lies to Horrible congress guys in centuries. Do these thugs know nation is invaded with illegal, visa overstayers, bringing too many India guys into this nation for sheer greed be it from IT, Hospitals, or universities, ignoring USA citizens, instead of job-training, passing Jobs-Bill, stricter Immigration, infrastructure. They just blame healthcare law, which is indispensable and indelible. Wake up, get rid off all GOP from congress, god bless!!

It is tempting to see politics in our nation as being "blame vs. blame". But really, when the party that might be charitably called the "loyal opposition" works to undermine both the efforts of the duly elected President, and the nation as a whole with flip-flop policies, radical social agendas, government shutdowns, and endless filibusters and holds, it becomes much harder to simply say "see, both sides won't negotiate". Negotiating with the GOP is like negotiating with terrorists- it rarely accomplishes what you want, and it only encourages their hostage-taking actions.
The facts are the GOP has done nothing for America for 5 long years. No jobs bills, no economic stimulus, no minimum wage increase, no equal pay legislation, no gun control laws (particularly for the mentally ill or for s-called assault weapons)- all things the vast majority of Americans support.
The GOP shows no real desire or ability to lead- something g that makes voting for them very hard to justify.

Sooner or later people will realize that the GOP has no plans to move our country forward. Republican Government shutdowns at a cost of $24 billion, drug programs, tax cuts for the wealthy, and unfunded wars appear to be the only things the GOP is the willing to put on their Chinese credit card. Helping needy Americans is not in their play book.

The 2014 blame game is an easy one to play. The obvious choice is the DO NOTHING Congress led by the worst Speaker iin history and the politically immature and irresponsible obstructionist Tea Party politicians.

  9. Obama - Liar of the Year

November 2014 will spell 6 years of this country being held hostage to the far left progressive/liberal/socialist/communist Democrat Party. Actually 8 years since they also controlled both Houses of Congress during the last two years of the Bush Administration.

It is funny to listen to the looney left Democrats blame Congress for everything now and yet they controlled Congress for the two years leading up to the 2008 recession but take no blame for that, and of course blame Bush, one third of the government while they controlled two thirds. Of course, the LSM is the Democrats propaganda wing and allows them to get away with these lies, deceit and treachery.

It is time for the American people to wake up and see that the Democrats have been lying and conning them all along.

You know Gundy, real Americans pay their way- something our beloved rich don't do. And where did it get us? In case you never noticed, giving the rich obscene tax breaks didn't make any jobs, but we sure got a nice national debt. Here's a clue- as long as selfish individuals like yourself (and perhaps the Right in general) only worry about themselves, our nation will never recover economically or socially- and we'll maintain that poor underclass. Grow up- think like an American for a change.

hahaha... 47% pay no federal income taxes that the other 53% must make up for. 47% do not pay their way.

something our beloved rich don't do.
    ---
the 'rich' pay their share and the share of the 47% that pay nothing. do you want to go further and see if you can allow 60% to pay nothing and take everything away from the 40% to pay for everything?

And where did it get us?
    --
how many poor people have ever offered you a job? but of course, you're really not interested in jobs, just taking and then shouting others aren't paying enough for you to live without working or contributing.

just asking – Still with the 47% pay and 53% don't pay stuff?
Just to make it clear, you're talking about federal tax income right?
Because you know that children and teenagers (over 20% of the population) don't pay those taxes... don't you?
And there are other exemptions that you solemnly ignored...

@just asking: "how many poor people have ever offered you a job? but of course, you're really not interested in jobs, just taking and then shouting others aren't paying enough for you to live without working or contributing."

People of lower incomes spend their money, which stimulates the economy (that ol' supply and demand thingy).

And I don't buy that "the wealthy are the jobs creators" bull puckey anymore – not since they started using their tax cuts to create jobs overseas, lay off American workers, outsource American jobs and, in some cases, literally torn down American factories brick by brick and rebuilt them in places like China, Vietnam and India.

@just asking: Average inflation-adjusted income per family climbed 6% between 2009 and 2012, the first years of the economic recovery.

During that period, the top 1% saw their incomes climb 31.4% — 95% OF THE TOTAL GAIN — while the bottom 99% saw growth of 0.4%.

So cry me a river about how bad the American rich have it. They aren't paying their fair share – which is the least they can do for the country that has given them so much.

"47% do not pay their way."

    Some FACTS to chew on:

In 2007, before the economy turned down, 40% of households did not owe federal income tax (which is more the norm). That 47% figure resulted from the economic downturn in 2008 – caused by failed republican economic policies which pretty much crashed the world economy.

The 47% figure also ONLY reflects income tax or payroll taxes; it does not include State or Local or other taxes (data show that the poorest 1/5 of households paid a 12.3% of their incomes in state and local taxes in 2011!)

AND most of the people who pay neither federal income tax nor payroll taxes are low-income people who are elderly, unable to work due to a serious disability, or students, most of whom subsequently become taxpayers. (In years like the last few, this group also includes a significant number of people who have been unemployed the entire year and cannot find work. Which reminds me: Hey, repubs, where are all the JOBS, JOBS, JOBS you promised you'd create?!?!?)

Most low-income households as a group do, in fact, pay federal taxes. CBO data show that the poorest 1/5 of households paid an average of 4% of their incomes in federal taxes in 2007 (latest year of available data). This is a lot, given how modest these households’ incomes are: the poorest 1/5 of households had average income of $18,400 in 2007.

The next-to-the bottom 1/5 (folks with incomes between $20,500 and $34,300 in 2007) paid an average of 10.6% of their incomes in federal taxes.

    HERE'S THE KICKER:

When ALL federal, state, and local taxes are taken into account, the bottom 1/5 of households pays about 16% of their incomes in taxes, on average. The second-poorest 1/5 pays about 21%.

Interesting what you find out when you do a little research and stop just blindly accepting the lies of the likes of Fox and all the RWNJs...

@Obama – Liar of the Year: "November 2014 will spell 6 years of this country being held hostage to the far left progressive/liberal/socialist/communist Democrat Party. Actually 8 years since they also controlled both Houses of Congress during the last two years of the Bush Administration."

A couple things: "progressive/liberal/socialist/communist" are mutually-exclusive terms. The fact that you lump them together shows just how ignorant you are.

Further proof: The midterms of 2006 resulted in Dems having 51 Senate seats, repubs having 49 and 1 Independent. When the Dems gained a 1 vote majority (ONE!), the repubs started abusing the filibuster: Dems used the filibuster 68 times (2005-2006); repubs used it 139 times (2007-2008), 137 times (2009-2010), 115 times (2011-2012) and 79 times (2013-2014).

Contrast this to the previous all-time high for Senate filibusters of 82 times (1995-1996) .... when (surprise!) repubs were in the minority.

If you're looking for people who've held out nation hostage, look no further than to the GOP which has been actively thwarting the will of the American people ever since we elected President Obama TWICE, retained a majority of Dems in the Senate in 2012 and cast more than 1.4 million MORE votes for Dems in the House.

What exactly do you on the right have against democracy?!?
