Administration, allies to push Obamacare success stories

(CNN) - As the new year rolls in this week and people who signed up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act start seeing the effects of their coverage, the Obama administration will be plucking out the success stories for the limelight.

The goal is to demonstrate what officials have been saying all along: Once people start using their new insurance plans, they'll view Obamacare in a more favorable light.

A White House official said the administration has been working with Congressional Democrats and other health care allies on an effort to find and highlight positive stories, using interviews, opinion pieces, blogs, videos and social media.

"We know that the stories of Americans who are getting coverage - whether they were previously uninsured or underinsured - is one of the most compelling ways we can continue to encourage consumers to sign up for insurance over the remaining months of open enrollment," the official said.

March 31 marks the deadline for individuals to purchase health care insurance or else face a penalty.

Those who wanted their coverage to start by January 1 had to sign up by December 24.

After the rocky rollout of HealthCare.gov and news that millions lost their health insurance plans because those policies failed to meet new standards, White House official acknowledged they don't expect the new campaign "to solve the challenges we face with the public's perception of the Affordable Care Act."

Featuring the success stories will mark a counteroffensive to the already-known GOP playbook that seeks to draw out and publicize negative stories about Obamacare.

I don't know about the GOP playbook, I voted for this crap. If you mean success stories about signing up, go for it. When you have a pre-existing condition and they cancel you themselves, call me for another type of story. All the propaganda in the world won't kill the gift that keeps on giving to repubs.

Oh! lord, pushing success stories on Obamacare! This is what republicans tried very hard to avoid, now it is coming straight to hit their faces. Rachel Maddow its your turn now get ready. Megyn Kelly touting only 6 people enrolled is no longer valid.

the repubs superior propaganda machine will just tell Americans that staying without healthcare and scrunge off emergency room and let other americans premiums rise to pay their bills is the best way to go. they will claim that standing on your own two feet and looking out for your best healthcare interest is for the birds. just like they're saying that the free market is not suppose to fire anyone by the way the look or behave. look at how they stood up for their rich red neck friends, telling free market private companies that they cannot fire someone because the way they behave. owe wait a minute, are we talking about the repubs here. they have thrown their principles in the garbage bin just to hurt obama. will folks ever recover and find out what repubs stands are. next thing they will be crying for tax increasement and more regulations, if obama ever slip up and take those as his guiding light. hey repubs how many ships you guys going to jump off every time Obama climbs aboard, its going to be a lot of you guys floating down stream if you dont stand up and stop the mitten style flip flopping.

Obamacare is heading for success in spite of GOP sabatuage attempt by the GOP for the last five years. The one trick pony GOP foolish attempts to hide behind the obamacare law for their inaction on ALL issues important to the American people will lead to their loss of the house in November . Their goverment shut down and throwing away of 24 billion dallars won't help the GOP FISCIL CONSERVATIVES either.

  9. Obama - Liar of the Year - Democrats Doubling Down on the Lies

Obamacare helps some but in the process hurts and penalizes many, many more which Obama stated over and over would not happen. Obama and the Democrats are now PROVEN LIARS. 53% of the American people do not trust Obama or think he is honest.

And yet the proven liars will continue to double down on their lies and try to convince the American people to not believe their lying eyes, not believe their sky rocketing healthcare cost, not believe that cancellation notice they received, not believe that their current doctor will be no longer accessible.

The Obama administration itself predicts millions more that have employer based healthcare plans will see them cancelled in 2014 (which is why he delayed the employer mandate). What lies will Obama and the Democrats concoct to try and blame that on others? Stay tuned people. 2014 will be the a banner year for leftist Democrat lies to cover their massive failure with Obamacare and with the economy. FOUR YEARS after the recession officially ended and the Democrats say we still need massive long term unemployment insurance. They are admitting their policies are a failure.

About time! Many now have health insurance and don't have to worry about pre existing conditions or ceiling cap if you have cancer.
Same for parents who can keep their children on their plan until the age of 26.

Although the rollout was indeed a disaster, it is great for the country that millions of persons will finally be able to receive insurance coverage.

  12. obama is a disaster

I lost my insurance because of ohbama care. I now have to pay 35% more for it-the good news is my 57 year old wife now has maternity coverage and my 12 year old kids (who are almost 30) get dental coverage. Thanks for nothing.

The fact that they have to devote so much time and effort to find success stories for this plan says volumes about Obamacare.

It ultimately will be a large success. Ok, so the website did not work right nor was it tested. I think we have all experienced that issue. And it certainly beats the GOP plan, whatever it was, oh yeah, if you are sick or dying, tuff stuff. Obamacare will be barack's legacy. The GOP will lose large again in 2016

  15. just asking

who is going to be paying for this obama-democrat propaganda? the democrat party or the usa taxpayers that are getting screwed over royally by this obamacare disaster and even more screwed over by having to pay for these lies?

four years after it was passed and after the american people now see the lies that were told to force this disaster down our throats, still obama and the democrats continue their lies and propaganda. they just think we are all too stupid to know we are much better off we are paying more for less, losing our doctor and our hospital all while being assured the opposite would be the case.

obama and the democrats are the liars of the century, not the year. they have perpetrated the largest fraud ever seen in this country's history. a fraud that will adversely affect the health and well being of every single american. their treachery will cause the death of some as they lose the doctors and hospitals that have been keeping them alive. just collateral damage to them. the end justifies the means. and as usual, the middle class will take the major hit in this mess.

the fact is that obama and the democrats are the worse thing that ever happened to the middle class. a stagnant economy for 5 years, declining median income, no job growth, food stamp recipients sky rocketing, lowest workforce participation rate in decades, and now obamacare to encourage part time employment and a 30 hour work week to avoid the massive costs of obamacare that would drive companies out of business.

it is very clear at this point that obama and the far left democrat party is incapable of ever telling the american people the truth. they simply cannot be trusted and they prove it every day with their endless streams of lies and deceit.

We should hear about the positive too, but don't be surprised if people are skeptical of these the same way many were skeptical of the negative ones

And Right Wingers are going to resist and suppress these success stories with every fiber of their traitorous, anti-American selves.

How dare the Obama administration help America succeed when Right Wing Nut Jobs have declared that America and our government must fail.

How about the success story of Jessica Stanford, one of the very first to sign up for Obamacare?
    – was told she would get subsidies, then promptly lost them
    – can't find any Obamacare policies that she can readily afford
Just remember: "You can keep your policy. Period."

What is good the people we need to sign up are not signing up so the cost will go to the tax payers again because we have stupid people running the Government and voting too.

1.1 million and this is to cover 40 million really one of the stupid voters.

The rabid right will never accept any of these stories. Unfortunately, there will be sufficient problems to keep the firestorm going. It will not get any better until Republicans and Democrats are able to make changes that are clearly needed.

This is how it's supposed to work. Some people get to pay less (those with pre existing conditions), some people have to pay more (guy with subpar or no health insurance). You can't have one without the other (I assume that's why California earthquake insurance or New Orleans flood insurance is so cost prohibitive)
