Poll: Clinton, Obama, most admired

(CNN) - Talk about a streak.

Hillary Clinton is the most admired woman among Americans for the 12th-straight year, according to a national poll released Monday by Gallup.

And for the sixth straight year, the survey indicates President Barack Obama ranks as the most admired man.

Each year in an open-ended format, Gallup asks Americans to name the man and woman living anywhere in the world they admire most.

Clinton, the former Secretary of State, Senator from New York, 2008 Democratic presidential candidate, and former first lady, has topped the Gallup survey 18 times, the most in its history.

She captured 15% support this year, down from 21% last year.

Oprah Winfrey was second at 6%, followed by first lady Michelle Obama and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, each at 5%.

Obama has topped the list as the most admired man each year since his victory in the 2008 presidential election.

But as his approval ratings as President have dropped this year, so has his rating in the Gallup survey. He received 16% support this year, down from 30% in 2012.

Former President George W. Bush and Pope Francis were tied for second place, each at 4%. Former President Bill Clinton and the Rev. Billy Graham were each at 2%.

"Graham has appeared in the top 10 list far more often than any other man, making his 57th appearance this year. He has never finished first, a spot typically taken by the sitting President," Gallup said in a statement.

The Gallup poll was conducted December 5-8, with 1,031 adults nationwide questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Failin' Palin doesn't belong in the same category as these other prominent women. Mentioning her among these other women is shameful. Then to have Bush and the Pope tied goes to show you how reliable Gallup's polls are.

You would think that the head of the Republican Party, Rush Limbaugh, or the guy who shut down the government, Ted Cruz, would be polling higher than the president, since it is a Gallup Poll.

Did they poll blind people or something. How is Obama admired if polls show how much people dislike him and his ability to do his job?

We admire, respect, and appreciate our President Obama.
He inspires us to reach for the heights with aplomb, class, and intelligence.
May God continue to bless and protect our President

Good choices. Obama saved us from another great depression and we have recovered from the housing crises.

The markets are higher than they were in 2008 and my retirement plans are back.

Thank God that we have Obama as we now have health care coverage for my son with cancer and my daughter who is under 26 years old. She also just found a good paying job and I noticed that the unemployment rate has slipped.

I wished more white Americans would be supportive of this man and what he has accomplished.

hey lesson to what i say, this president will be up their with the top 5 best president in this country's history. he was handed the a Rosevelt depression, and with the conspiracy of the repubs to undermined him at every turn for political reason, he took a country swirling into the abyss, and sat it up on firm ground. the stock markets is bursting through the stratosphere, folks are getting richer than ever in the history of the world. and if it wasn't for those robots and computer systems getting most of the jobs the economy is producing. our employment rate would be 0 percent and America would have to go get more workers from china to help. the repubs still has the most powerful propaganda machine ever know to man, and they are using it to gublelize the american people, and letting them sell their best interest to china.

I am calling for a recount of the poll, or basic changes in the methodology of the sampling. How on earth could any mad group of people rate Sarah Palin of all persons as equal to US first lady......in what sense, or for that matter rate GWB higher than Bill Clinton. Where on earth could such opinion be accaptable. CNN should stop publishing news that would insult our collective sensibilities.

As Hillary and Bill have been jabbing their knives into Obama's back in preparation for 2016:
Bill: You should honor your "You can keep your policy. Period" promise, Barry
Hillary: "I wouldn't work with anyone who would not negotiate"

Just wait until the 2014 Democrat Purge and Billary will show their true colors and use Barry as a stepping stone for 2016. The blades will be plunged in deep and often.

This is a teachable moment. The lesson to be learned here is that the right wing extremists who completely abhor Obama or Clinton are a definite minority in this country.

Republican Tea Party political operatives must be discouraged knowing that dirty swift boat attacks against Hillary will be negated by her popularity. Political campaign attacks, lies, and smears will be construed as war on women.

So the "Liar of the Year" garners the most votes for most admired. Of course, all the people that will benefitting from all those lies voted FOR Obama. But even so, Obama's percentage has taken a huge hit because of those lies. Democrats can expect the same sort of damage in November 2014. Most of the American people HATE liars, and do not admire them.

Here is the REAL reason Obama is at the top of the poll. Looks like 16% of Americans admire a liar as long as he's their liar.
