Mostly ignored, shifts emerge in the politics of poverty

Washington (CNN) - Tianna Gaines-Turner is so politically active she gave 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney a questionnaire to answer on policy positions. When he failed to respond, she volunteered on President Barack Obama's campaign. She also encourages her neighbors to vote.

Her activism is persistent despite feeling like she is an ignored component of the American electorate.

40 years of the GOP's "Voodoo" cut-taxes and spend, slash the social safety net economics, and we find the rich got richer. Will wonders ever cease? Proof, the GOP cares little for the average American.

You are truly clueless. Fewer and fewer pay taxes in this country while almost a majority get a free pass and then collect massive amounts of government benefits. This country spends TRILLIONS each your on entitlements and social welfare programs and has spent countless trillions of the war on poverty. And what has it gotten us? A massive nanny state built on government dependence and just as much if not more poverty than we started with decades ago.

And it sure does not help that tens of millions of poor, uneducated illegal aliens have invaded this country over the years to live off of the nanny state as well.

The clueless Democrats think the taxpayers wallet is a bottomless well from which to draw with total disregard for what we need to live, raise and educate OUR families. There is never enough money for them no matter how much they steal from the working middle class in this country.

And the democrat liberal choice for news, MSNBC once again demonstrates that mean snarkiness which infects all liberals by demeaning and degrading Pearl Harbor survivors. They do so love the some Obama and apparently show it by imitating him by diminishing, demeaning and degrading anyone who does not agree with their warped way of thinking.

Barring your lack of understanding in regards to how the world's economy has changed, do you realize that this measurement is meaningless given how many companies are global? On top of that socialist countries, which I'm sure you advocate our country to be like, usually have the least amount income mobility. Even now our country is losing our normally large amount of income mobility, not because of "Voodoo" economics, but instead because of the massive increase in regulations that you and your liberal friends love so much.

    Humm,
Severe lack of education here. The Framer's of the Constitution already answered all those questions. No one is holding you back but yourself. If there is a failure to communicate it is up to you to try harder. Too bad the Liberal's went off the range a long time ago. The time to get back to the Constitution is way overdue.

No one is stealing more from the working middle class in this country than are the corporate millionaires and billionaires. To even begin to try and shield that fact of reality is beyond ignorant. Your entire argument is nothing but a load of Republican talking point memo crap masked as Rand Paul soapbox libertarian smoke screen BS.

Those of you throughing around words like socialism and capitalism don't have a clue. Nobody is stealing from the "middle class" except the "rich". The last 40 years have seen disproportionate tax cuts for the affluent versus much smaller [on a percentage basis] OR a ZERO tax cut for the middle and lower incomers. And be warned, the rest of us won't let you fake capitalists pull the wool over the other people's eyes. Trickle down is a FARCE. Tax cuts for job creators is a farce: even the POPE is calling so called Christians out for their greed.
If you run an insurance agency, or a plumbing business and make $300K per year, you ARE NOT in the entreprenuer category of the creator of the Segway and you don't deserve tax breaks that are disproportionate. Its high time we told you that.
You don't deservew to be soaked, but your ride on the backs of others is over.

Anyone who accepts answers that are lies........like Obama's.......may be active politically, but they are fools, for Americans.

You can't take anyone's WORD for what they stand for, or what they intend to do.........you have to look at who they are, who they associate with, and what their record actually is.

If people had done that with Obama, he would have lost.

The usual BS leftist response with claims of the rich stealing and yet not one single example or any proof is presented. Par for the course. Empty leftist class warfare rhetoric devoid of any facts. So where do all the trillions and trillions of dollars we spend every year come from? Where did the tens of trillions we have spent over the last 4 decades come from? From the poor? No, that money came from the rich and middle class. And what have we gotten for all of our money? MORE POOR PEOPLE!

So it is clear that more money is NOT the answer because no matter how much has been spent, it has done no good. The entire approach needs to be re-examined. One thing is very clear though. A nanny state and fostering government dependence does NOT lift people and families out of poverty. To the contrary, it has made the problem worse because now many of the middle class are being dragged down trying to pay for more and more on the government dole.

how nice of your leftist thieves to tell the people working their back sides off to make a good life for themselves and their family what they deserve to keep. you do realize that the person earning the money owns it right? you do realize the government takes this money, many times to simply hand it to others the government deems more worthy of that money, even though they have done noting to earn it.

the far left democrat party are simply thieves masquerading as a political party. their gun is the tax code and the irs. Your only defense against them is your vote.

All your talk of leftist class warfare rhetoric devoid of any facts doesn't change the fact that you are yourself pushing a theory that doesn't stand on its own merits. Why do we have more people you ask? Because more and more people are being sucked out of their jobs, their life savings, their 401K pensions, and their homes. By whom are they being sucked out of these things? Your first clue is: it is not the United States government sucking their livelihood away from them.

    What's that you say,
No one is stealing more from the working middle class than corporate Millionaires and Billionaires? To do that the middle class has to be making good money. When our liberal congress relaxed the rules so anyone could buy a house, able to pay or not, all the peasants jumped in with both feet. After all they had no skin in the game. Just the banks that were forced to comply. So it was the people that had nothing to lose by taking out those mortgages. It was the banks that lost, like Leahman Brothers. So your argument is bogus. Not too long ago the Government sued the banks for making bogus loans, after they were forced to do so! Talk about screwed up priorities !! Now the Tax payers are on the hook, twice !! But you will stick your head in the sand, pleading ignorance !

    _______________
The Walton Family members who run their little empire this year gave themselves raises- $1.3 billion each (as a salary). We know that a WalMart moving into town raises the amount of public assistance that needs to be paid out because they don't pay livable wages, nor do they provide benefits.

All well and good for the Waltons, but obviously a bad deal for their workers. You may think that's a great way for them to make a "salary", but obviously- it does no good for America. Certainly mobility is not even a factor here (well, except for the Waltons). Do remember Horatio Alger is just a story- not a method. Keep building a grinding poverty for the majority of workers- before long even the Waltons won't be able to peddle their Chinese-made junk at a profit. Then what?
