Money pours in for Texas governor’s race

(CNN) – The Texas gubernatorial race is already turning into a high-dollar contest.

Democratic state Sen. Wendy Davis' team reported Tuesday raising $12.2 million in the second half of last year.

The sum is a combined figure of money raised by her campaign, her state office campaign and a political action committee that backs her campaign.

On the Republican side, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott's campaign reported raising $11.5 million in the fundraising period from July 1-December 31, bringing his total sum for 2013 to $16.3 million.

His campaign says it has $27 million cash in hand.

Davis and Abbott are considered the leading candidates in their respective parties. The primary is March 4.

Gov. Rick Perry, a Republican, announced last year he would not seek re-election.

Iran's president "america surrenders". this is the kind of leadership and dumb and dumber per obama/kerry that the obamacrats bring to the table-YOU CAN KEEP YOUR INSURANCE. Texas leads the country without all those taxes while davis has done one thing that any Christian should be proud of-support abortion/gay rights/ which means the obama agenda. DAVIS WINS WE ARE OUT OF HERE WHILE WE CAN STILL GET TOP DOLLAR FOR OUR HOME-AND AVOID THE STAMPEDE LEAVING TEXAS.

This is disturbing that there is so much money is being funneled into a political race. It is a shame that needs to be done. I hope that Davis gets enough money to compete with the Koch brothers... I mean the GOP candidate.

The tide is turning here in Texas, but oh, so slowly. Better late than never. Perry made his millions, time for him to hit the speaking tour.

Terrible choice for rational people in Texas. Vote for Obamacare in Wendy Davis, vote for Texas Taliban in Greg Abbott.

This is the first time in my life I have contributed! Texans have to take back Texas from these Fundamentalist Koch controlled Nuts. We need to take care of Texans instead of just "Rich" Texans. We need better eduction, our rivers cleaned up of mercury, health care for the poor and rural and most of all decent paying jobs. Obviously the Republicans are anti-family (sure they keep poor women from getting an abortion, teach "Abstenance Only" sex ed, giving Texas one of the highest Teen Pregnancy rates in the nation. Now a pregnant teen is probably going to be poor her whole life. Once she is pregnant the Texas Republican Legislature will anything to keep her poor, deny her education, deny her heatlh care for her and her baby both pre and post natal, then keep her and the baby underfed, living in substandard housing and possibly with unsafe water.

Now is that what we want for Texans in the future. This is more like Afghanistan than America. Well I say no! We need Wendy Davis and we need to vote out all the Republicans in office and replace them with women. Democratic or independent women, with educations, compassion and sense. No more God Chosen Governors, or people controlled by the Koch Bros.
. And we need to send the Canadian back to Ottowa or where ever he was born and raised. He is sure no Texan if he hates America and Americans so much!

    So get out and vote.
