good riddance to coburn, his war on discretion spending, which is only 12 percent of the government spending is critical. cutting money out of our economy ruins small businesses. if he was trying to cut some money from big corporations like oil, i probably would think he was doing something notable. his only concern was to cut programs to the poor, which hires regular citizens, who spend their money to boast local economy, who then hires more regular folks. what is with these repubs ideology of trickle down economics in a global market. big companies dont even make the majority of their earnings in america anymore. that distinction belongs to china, who has 4 times more spenders than we have. if you keep sucking money from our economy and giving it to big corporations, do you really think they're going to invest in our economy that has less money to spend and buy their goods. naa their going to china and build china's economy and war machine up. someone need to tell fox to hire a democrat to help stop the gullibility of the american people with their right winged lies and deception.

I am sure OK has another person who can step into his shoes and wage a war on the poor, seniors, workers, veterans, children and women. We won,t even know Tom is gone.

I agree. It's too bad conservatives can't show the same respect for Gabby Giffords, either. But, Coburn should have been kicked out of Congress when he obstructed and meddled with the investigation into Ensign.

I agree. Apparently cancer is no longer a "bring everyone together" disease. I remember as well the comments made against Ted Kennedy prior to (and after) his death.

God Speed on a full recovery, Sen. Coburn.

Agreed. Now if only those on the right would take your words to heart the next time a Dem has a medical crisis....

It was wrong then and it's wrong now. Please don't try to justify bad behavior with bad behavior.

Quick recovery though your presence in the Senate was a big obstacle.

Somehow I don't think that would have been very well received by the war hawks on the right. Remember, Bin Laden was still posting videos threatening to attack and destroy America.

Politics rarely brings out the best in people, especially when people insist on viewing everything around them through an ideological prism. I hope Coburn beats the cancer and continues to contribute to the national dialogue, if for no other reason than he is a human being, and his willingness to serve is worthy of respect. I disagree with most, if not all, of his stands, but I wish him well.

Since when did Obama care about anything ANYONE on the right wanted or didn't want? He had the opportunity and the votes to get it done and he didn't.

Coburn knew after getting into politics he was way over his head and at least after doing almost nothing he'd be better to step aside..Boy I hope he was better as a doctor than a senator because he sucked and it showed...No government pension or extended health care for him retiring early ,good riddence
