Trump: Christie 'one email away from a disaster'

(CNN) - Donald Trump says he's worried about his friend, Chris Christie.

"He's a friend of mine. He's a good friend of mine. He's a good guy, but you know, he's one email away from a disaster," said Trump, at an event Tuesday morning at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics.

"It's a very scary situation for Chris, and we'll see how he handles it," added Trump, the real estate mogul and reality TV star.

Trump's comments came just a few hours before the Republican Governor of New Jersey's second inauguration, a celebratory event that's now being overshadowed by clouds of controversy, as Christie's administration faces scandals over alleged strong-arming of political opponents.

Christie is also seriously considering a bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, and national polls of Republicans conducted after the Governor's landslide re-election two months ago suggested that he was becoming the front-runner among the possible contenders for the GOP nomination. But Trump says the controversies may hurt such a bid.

"At a minimum it's going to be tougher for him (Christie) because of what's happened," Trump added.

Trump spoke at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics' famous "Politics and Eggs" series, which often attracts top politicians and possible presidential contenders.

Asked to handicap the possible 2016 field, Trump said he thinks the eventual GOP nominee is "going to be somebody that nobody is even thinking about," and said that even though Hillary Clinton, if she runs, will instantly become the overwhelming favorite to win the Democratic nomination, "you just don't know what's going to happen."

The 67-year old Trump, who flirted with runs for the Republican presidential nomination in the 2000 and 2012 cycles, last year spoke to a number of Republican and conservative crowds, including addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference, which is the largest annual gathering of conservative leaders and activists, and is considered a must attend cattle call for Republican presidential hopefuls.

But Tuesday, Trump did not address his own possible presidential ambitions regarding 2016.

He did praise the crowd in the Granite State, which traditionally holds the first primary in the road to the White House, saying "you're special people. This is a special state. You're very important for a lot of reasons."

And a couple of times he highlighted his conservative chops, criticizing Obamacare and President Barack Obama's handling of the economy, and emphasizing that "I'm a very conservative person."

But he offered some advice to tea party activists and other grassroots conservatives, who have been blamed for nominating flawed candidates that were a contributing factor in the GOP loss of five Senate elections in the 2010 and 2012 cycles.

"I love the tea party and I love many of the things that the tea party represents," said Trump, before adding that "they have to be careful, however, cause we (Republicans) could have had two or three or four more senators right now if the tea party had been a little bit more lenient, a little bit more understanding."

It doesn't really matter, as Christie was a Dem, wearing a GOP label, anyway. He was never a true conservative, about government, nor a true defender of the Constitution, and Constitutional rights, against the subversiveness of the Democratic Party dictators.
    Stop inhaling gas fumes.

Rip on Trump all you like. He may be unworthy and insufficient of the desire, grandeur and self-hype of his ego, But at least his fronting is obvious. He's not ashamed of his crotchety ole' (crony) codger thing. The nominee's for the presidency however will bait and switch, lie and pretend, and continue destroying the structure of our republic and facilitating our collapse. Dems and republicans alike will take an oath to something and betray it two seconds later. That's why it’s called politics. It’s not about hard work and careful planning. It’s about trickery and deception, favoritism and manipulation. The only positive outcome is if it helps their agenda or lines their pockets. I guess that since the serfs knew what is going on and they vote for me anyway, then this is exactly what they wanted.
This is the #1 reason we need to reform our electorate and the authority that is encompassed within our representation. The number #2 reason is that the media thinks someone like Trump’s opinion matters in anyway shape or form when it comes to who will fail the people as the next president. If we could just get an honest, intelligent, and objective person with some comprehension of the potential of our country and the the ambition to pursue the things that are advantageous to the whole fairly. It would be a miracle. Now if some goof can just tone in about that being trickledown economics or some similar garbage. I will have some substantiation of the point I’m making. We all know that reaganomics and corporate subsidy are a joke and the exact type of things that I’m actually talking about negatively. So go fish cause I already have 4 of a kind.

It's great how everyone in the media thinks Trump is a "genius" when he's bashing a Republican, but when he makes a comment about a liberal progressive, well he's just insane.
What's even better is someone defending Trumps birther comments by playing a counterfeit hypocrisy card.

If part of the Donald's glam night time look, involves false eyelashes and glitter, I would counsel him to avoid any of Vitter's campaign fund raisers for governor.

So today's talking point is the sour-grapey "he's not a real GOPer" instead of yesterday's "the Dems are creating these lies"?

The GOP must have found the smoking gun if they're running away like that.

Even a stopped clock with apparent liver failure is right once a day. It sounds like Trump believes the accusations being leveled against his 4 ft diameter mob connection/good buddy. On the subject of diameter: Christie would patently not survive past the 1st year of actual pressure as POTUS. He's a man used to getting his way and tantrums are very bad for the blood pressure and heart. He already looks like he's on the verge of a sweaty stroke a result of the fist real pressure he's faced as a politician. Repubs will figure this out pretty quickly as the honeymoon is already over.. The only possible repub contender would be Jebediah.

He was not going to win the GOP nomination anyway. The conservatives and the tea party especially hate him. He may have done well in the north east but he would never get through the south or midwest.

every single time a conservative gets caught doing something, without fail, he's suddenly a rino. Suddenly they go from party hero to party zero. They're thrown under the bus and everyone swears they were always a democrat and democrats do the same thing and they were a rino always. doesn't matter if you were begging them last election to run and hailing him as the next coming of reagan. a party of no accountability and zero responsibility is all they are. top to bottom they are jokes. From the guys on top who pander to the idiots who vote for them time and and again on bottom.

WHY are we giving this bloated, pedantic conservitard any more media ink? Publicity is the only thing he craves. He was financially bailed out in the 1980s and pretends it never happened so he's in no position to weigh in on anything.
