'Duck Dynasty' to represent at State of the Union

(CNN) – He's everywhere!

Football games. Award shows. The White House Correspondents Dinner.

Now 'Duck Dynasty' star Willie Robertson will attend Tuesday night's State of the Union address as a guest of Rep. Vance McAllister. Robertson campaigned for McAllister, the newly elected congressman from Louisiana, last fall.

Robertson himself was called on by some in the GOP to run for the seat, but he backed his friend, McAllister, instead. McAllister won the special election in November for Louisiana's 5th Congressional district, a race that pitted two Republicans against each other.

In a press release, McAllister said he looks forward to "bringing some diversity to our nation's capitol" Tuesday night with the attendance of his bearded guest.

Robertson is the head of Duck Commander, the family-owned duck call business featured in the hit reality show on A&E.

7 things you didn't know you didn't know about the State of the Union

He's the son of Phil Robertson, who sparked a fierce debate in December when he made controversial comments about homosexuality. Phil, the patriarch of the family, was temporarily suspended from the show. After A&E faced sharp pushback from fans and supporters, it announced plans to resume filming later the spring with the entire family, including Phil Robertson.

A big question for Tuesday night's State of the Union address is whether Robertson will sport his trademark stars-and-stripes bandana. He's worn it on red carpet events in the past, but will it fly in the more-formal House chamber?

CNN's Lisa Desjardins and Deirdre Walsh contributed to this report.

Is it coincidence that the rapid rise of the "Duck Dynasty" coincides with a big decline in sales of razors and razor blades?

Meh. Just look up the pictures of these people in their sweaters and khakis with their Hollywood hairdos and you'll see just how fake the whole Duck Dynasty image really is. That being said, the whole "guests" thing for SOTU really doesn't generate a single iota of interest for me one way or another no matter which party or person is playing their host. It's the speech, stupid.

We see who the GOP worships- not heros, not our youth, not our teachers, not civic leaders, not soldiers, not those who make a difference in the lives of the American people who contribute to society. Nope. Radicalized millionaire duck-callers in a fake reality TV world...
Today's GOP- interested in who they can make a buck off of or who they can gin up another fake-o controversy around.

Great description! "fake reality TV world" And we wonder how some of these extreme right GOP'ers can make some of the stuff they do without basis in fact. They probably don't distinguish between reality TV and reality itself.

That's fair. Obama trots his props, and the GOP does the same.

I'm actually surprised that they fooled as many as they did before people started interesting themselves on just who these men were before they got their TV gig. More than anything, they made a mockery of those whom they are "pretending" to be.

GOP uses Duck guys to represent the entertainment side. Dems use snoop dogg and Jayz. Ill go with the guys who rose from nothing to make a thriving business over the guys who sold crack on the streets and were in violent gangs.

My husband is a duck hunter, so he was aware of their "products" prior to their A&E debut. They were quite well off long before A&E.

Well, that will fly in the face of Mr. Obama's push to legitimize his homosexual agenda and preferences.
